  • Only rap soundtrack I think I actually liked was Madworld's. Other than that. I don't like it. The subject of the lyrics, whatever they may be, don't put me off. But the actual vocals. The voices just irritate me.   Personally, if I could just take out all the lyrics and just had the beat, I would be totally fine with that. I like drum and bass stuff, and that's how I ...

Last Sunday I bought the three main Jak & Daxter games. I enjoyed playing them before, but that was through Gamefly so I never really got to own them. Now I do. And I had decided to play through them all before Monday (tomorrow). I accomplished that, on Friday afternoon I beat Jak 3.

All I can say? It was great to play through these games again.
My impressions on what I think about the game.

Jak & Daxter The Precursor Legacy
I will love this game's environments the most out of the series. They're lush, colorful, and you can really see the impact the player makes on the world. Really shows how all the levels are connected into one massive world.
Favorite Moment: Standing on top of Gol and Maia's Citadel just to look at the world
Worst Moment: Going to activate the Yellow Eco Vent Switch in Snowy Mountain. Frickin' ice.

Jak II
I forget whether I wanted to play this game when it first came out because I thought it was awesome or just because it was so different from the first game. Oh well, I can say though, the game is still Jak, with some cool additions. The gun that changes form based on ammo type, the JET-board. I was glad to see Haven Forest and the Precursor Mountain temple, as they reminded me of the original game's gorgeous environments.
Favorite Moment: Heading into the KG fortress to bust your friends out after losing the Precursor Stone to Praxis. In other words, PRISON BREAK!!
Worst Moment: Getting out of the water slums alive after getting the seal piece. If you don't move you die. If you get in the water, you die. There are no vehicles to hijack. Unless going straight to your JET-board is instinct, you'll get super frustrated like I did.

Jak 3
Improves on everything done by the first two game, making it THE best in the series. The world was made bigger and better, new gun mods, light and dark Jak, and the most awesome twist I can remember in any game. You who all played it know what I'm talking about.
Favorite Moment: Discovering said twist mentioned above. My reaction was similar to Jak's. "Oh my God"
Worst Moment: I honestly can't think of one.

I'll probably get Jak X sometime, since I had fun with that as far as I remember (it was a good spin off). Plus having a save of it unlocks an extra skin in Ratchet Deadlocked.

Anyway, Tomorrow starts Ratchet & Clank UYA and Star Fox Adventures!

My plan to go through a section of my backlog has been going well since late august. As of now, since Monday, I have finished 6 games. 1) Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, 2) Super Mario 64, 3) Paper Mario, 4) Ratchet & Clank, 5) Sly Cooper and the Thievious Racoonus, and 6) Ratchet & Clank Going Commando. Next week on Monday starts the next round, Ratchet & Clank Up Your Arsenal and Star Fox Adventures. Follow that up with DK Jungle Beat & Ratchet Deadlocked, and that will finish off the year.

Earlier this week on Sunday I bought the original Jak & Daxter games for PS2 (not Jak X, just the platformers). It's my goal now during this week before my next scheduled game, to beat these three games before Monday. I have already played these games before, got them through Gamefly in the past, and beat them, so I know what to do, so no time is wasted on getting lost. As of now, I just reached the half way point in Jak II (middle of act 2), and will reach the 2/3 mark later tonight. By Thursday, I should have it finished, and the weekend will be spent on Jak 3.

So many games from last gen, the only new release I'll be playing before years end is New Super Mario Bros Wii. Because, well, it's Mario. I love the games, and although I'm not buying it right away (already spent my money on the Jak games), I've got it in my Gamefly Q for when it releases. I'll try and get some friends over if I can to play it.

So, only one new release here on out and some PS2 and GC games. Yeah, no Modern Warfare because, even a day after release, I am already tired hearing about it. Of course, I was already getting tired of it as the release neared, but now I'm OFFICIALLY tired.

So to Giantbomb's Question of the Week, what am I doing that isn't Modern Warfare 2...It's this.

I love Platformers and Adventures, so I'll finish off the year with that.

Have a good rest of the year with your games, everyone.

I've still been busy with my scheduled game playing with my back catalog. The routine has pretty much settled in permanently.

By tomorrow I will have finished Ratchet & Clank, and while I've been waiting for Friday, I went and got every Gold Bolt save for the last three on the final planet. Not gonna bother getting all the skill points for this run. Just go through the last level, beat Drek, and keep my save completed at there so I can get the discount when the time for Up Your Arsenal comes (in mid November).

And, yesterday, I decided to buy Mischief Makers on ebay, since I really want to play this game, and I doubt there's very much chance that Nintendo's gonna start putting out more N64 games on the VC. Atleast I got it for the price I WOULD have paid if it were on the VC. Technically it was 9 dollars (5 without shipping), so, one dollar saved on that. I'll admit, I expected the price to be higher, seeing has how physical copies of Treasure games can sometimes end up, well, scarce.
And it got shipped today. Hopefully by Saturday it comes, since I'll have plenty of time to play around with it.

And the last item in my blog title. Along with Ratchet & Clank, I've been going through Paper Mario. I was able to come up with a good schedule where I could play through it in short chunks. Fifty One Days total.

I can't remember exactly HOW long parts of each of my games go, so some are shorter or longer than others, but so long as I give enough time to it that I can still get other work outside of my games done, I don't really mind. I'll say though, I'm having fun going back through this game. I actually like it more story wise because Bowser IS the villain, rather than someone else, and the story is actually worth something.

And in non gaming subject matter, I recently got Neon Genesis Evangelion from Netflix. I already had watched it before, but that was on Youtube, so I decided that I should watch this in much better picture quality.

And, that's all.

Over 15 Years of Insanity
Over 15 Years of Insanity
6 Days.

That's how long it took me to make this piece. A very big one.

You can tell where these characters are from just by looking at the logo in the bottom right corner.

The Characters, in order of their respective game's release.

Red & Blue (Gunstar Heroes)

These guys had to take the center because, well, they were Treasure's first breakout hit. For making these two, I started on Red's pose as a base, then copied and mirrored it for Blues. Afterwords color and facial features were added. It worked out, since Red is left handed and Blue is right, so, it's canonical.

Dynamite Headdy (Dynamite Headdy)

This was alot easier to do, since the head looks like that of a koopa troopa, and the body is pretty simplistic. I actually forgot to add the feather in his head until last night, where as I drew him 2 days ago. Glad I caught that.

Epsilon Eagle (Alien Soldier)

Bit more complex, but the reference pics I had were a good help. Though his right arm is a bit off I think, though it's too late to change that. Still like how it turned out.

Marina Liteyears (Mischeif Makers)

I had a bit of fun making her expression. I never really did make something with big eyes and a happy face, so this was a first. I know it does look like her pose on the game's cover, but I couldn't really get any pose to work out right, so I stuck with the one you see now.

Shyna Nere Shyna (Silhouette Mirage)

I had even more fun with this one, because I was able to get the pose I wanted for Marina to work with her. I think the body size was a much better factor in making it work. Plus, look at her face. She's ecstatic.

Buster and the Radiant Silvergun (Radiant Silvergun)

I just used the ship on the cover as a reference. I just drew it by switching back and forth between GIMP and internet explorer. Atleast there weren't a whole lot of details I needed to put on the ship. Also, you can see Buster, one of the characters from the game, in the background just barely.

Yukiwo (Rakugaki Showtime)

The game's title actually makes sense now as I was looking for the character's name. Rakugaki is japanese for doodle, so the style make sense. And that's what I did on this one. It was fun just scribling in the colors, and knowing that I didn't need to fill in EVERY spot was nice.

Bangai-O (Bakuretsu Muteki Bangaioh)

This one isn't actually the Bangai from the original N64/Dreamcast game. I just used the one from Bangai-O Spirits, just because I liked the design more. Note, this render actually took me 3 days to get right, just scrapping it every single time when it didn't turn out right. Thankfully it paid off, yet there are still flaws in the symmetry. Oh well, they're minor, but I still get bugged everytime I see them.

Saki Amamiya (Sin & Punishment Successor to the Earth)

The protagonist from the game that made me a fanboy of Treasure. I already had drawn Saki before plenty of times, so this was easy. Not much else to say, other than he's pretty awesome.

Shinra and the Ikaruga (Ikaruga)

Unlike the Radiant Silvergun, this one had tons of small details that I didn't want to leave out. I got enough to atleast prove that it does resemble the ship. And just like Radiant Silvergun, I also drew the pilot, Shinra. Pretty cool dude.

Linda and the Demon Scarf (Stretch Panic)

I really don't know much about this character or the game, yet I'm curious to try it out even if critics weren't so favorable to it. Pretty simple designs, so it didn't take up a whole lot of time. Just had to find a way to draw the scarf in the correct pose.

That's all of them. Well, I didn't include Light Crusader or Guardian Heroes, but, oh well.

The interesting thing about the picture is how everything is "coming towards you." Saki's got his gun aimed at you (crosshair included), Red & Blue are about to kick you in the face, and Linda's scarf is about to do who knows what.

The original image in the end was supposed to have a game controller with the hands almost dropping it in surprise as all the characters are coming right at him, or in the case of the viewer...YOU!

But, my inability to draw hands convincingly kept me from doing so, so I just replaced it with the company logo tucked in the corner. But the black border is the TV, BTW.

This took me quite a while. 6 Days as I said. But I do think this was worth it, even with the tiny mistakes and flaws I've left in there. Oh well, atleast it'll teach me to improve on it.

Cheers.

...but felt like doing it anyway since this weekend would be my "cool down" period from the last two games I spent over three weeks on. Yep, I beat 'em.

Anyway, the game that I did not originally plan on playing was Majora's Mask. Why? Just bored on a Thursday afternoon, and I took a look at my Majora's Mask holographic cartdridge. Figured I'd give it another shot and, using a 100% walkthrough I found on Gamefaqs, I've been marathoning since thursday.

So far? Got alot of stuff and I'm about to enter the Stone Tower, the only dungeon in the game that I never actually played through.

Even if there are only four dungeons total, the side quests are just fun to replay through, watching people go through their daily lives and helping them out.

I haven't started on Anju and Kafei's reuniting yet, but it's coming up. My favorite sidequest in the entire series by far.
That, and I'm gonna be sure to get Cremia's "special hug."

Yeah, I'm only taking a break from the games I have made schedules for. I guess that makes Majora's Mask my inbetween game for the moment. Hey, maybe I'll try going through Donkey Kong 64 when I have another break like this, THAT'S another game I've yet to finish.

Oh, and one last thing, I finally figured out how I'm going to go through Paper Mario. I made the segments that I will play, and, I had a feeling it would be as long as it is.

How long?

Almost two months.
51 days to be exact.

Yep, that much. It is an RPG after all.

Alright, I'm done.
