Two things have convinced me to pick up the recent fighting games that I've missed.

1: Mugen. The thing is a bit of a pain to set up, but it is fun playing with custom characters (but it is hard to find the right ones you want).
2: Marvel vs. Capcom 2 rerelease on PSN and XBLA. Loved this game back when it came out, and I can't wait. It just sucks that I don't have a 360, so I have to wait for the PSN release date. Still pumped though.

So, yeah, after toying around with Mugen and waiting for MvC2, I went and filled my GameflyQ with fighting games that were both good based on reception (from fans of the genre, 'cause apparently the majority of Gamefly users aren't big on the games) and that I might enjoy them. It, basically goes like this

1. Virtua Fighter 5
2. Street Fighter IV
3. Soul Calibur 2
4. BlazBlue Calamity Trigger
5. King of Fighters XII
6. Tekken 6
7. Tatsunoko vs. Capcom Ultimate All Stars

I know those last three aren't out yet, but I got them on there anyway.

Anyway, that first game on the top of my Q, I just got it today.

Very fun, although I don't get why exactly I can't use an Analog stick and am forced to use the D-Pad (hard to do quarter circles or half circles for me personally), but, eh, I deal with it. I'm just having fun playing around with Eileen. I haven't really touched on the rest of the characters a whole lot, but I guess I don't need to. I'm more for the faster characters, which encourages me to string together some neat combos, and I didn't have a ton of trouble getting used to her. Training really does help.

I did well in the Arcade mode, beat everyone except, well, Dural. I should've seen it coming, the whole "super powerful near impossible to beat character that promptly gives your ass a major beating." Yeah...So close though (but then again, I had the difficulty on very easy).

But I made it to 4th dan in Quest mode. Even had two close tournament matches with some higher ranked fighters (one went on for a whole 9 rounds. Yeah, wins for each round were exchanged left and right. I won in the end though).

That's all for right now. Next blog I'll probably have Street Fighter IV by then.
