It's Taken Me a Little While...

But I am starting to see just how awesome this site is going to be, what makes it is the user content and the whole system is really fresh and works well. I haven't ventured all that much into the forums, it seems to be calming down from the anarchy of before; I'm sure it won't be too long before I find a place to have some good discussion. I just spent an hour and a half doing a page on the SC-20K, Sam Fishers assault rifle, after gathering all four manuals and going through the internet and my memory I had a substantial wall of text on this one item. It's mad. All I can say is that I hope no one else has done one to outdo me or else that's a good chunk of my time wasted!

I suppose that's the only thing that one could say against the site right now, that being the time to get things moderated. But if you submit quality work it's going to get approved at some point or another so it's not all that bad. How people are over 1000 points is beyond me, I'd like to be in that position but I have a feeling it will take a while.

All in all a big thumbs up to the guys behind the site. Oh yeah and my username back at GS was aliens1234, if anyone cares...

I like to contribute to GameFAQs a lot, but GiantBomb actually makes contributing fun. That's even better!
So basically, I'm going to be playing with this site all the time, and never get to play games any more.

I can see this site sucking up a whole load of my gaming time, not all to bothered in fact! It's all still a bit much to take in right now.

I think everyone's going to find their own little niche - whether it's a particular object or an old obscure game that they can fill up with descriptions and links. I did that with Beyond Dark Castle, which I'm sure very few people have played. I just wish I could successfully capture screenshots from the second disk of the game, since other than what I've written up and uploaded, there's very little on the internet about the game.

I've already submitted a bunch of characters and objects, but I keep missing when they're uploaded and other people get to populating the actual page before me, which leaves me with only three points. Man, this place is turning me into an uber-geek. I even entered the barcode for the Canadian LE of Forza 2.

I think one of the reasons its so addictive is because its so damn easy and the whole point system makes you feel like every little detail you put in is actually worth something. BTW write big, huge articles and upload a ton of images if you want to get over a thousand points. Honestly the system is kind of broken at the moment because images get you like 1 point per image and another one for every gallery you link it to. Compare that to one point per 10 words and you begin to see why there are so many morons running around uploading a thousand images per page, getting live edit access and wreaking havoc with their new found privilege.

They just need to start rewarding articles in terms of quality as well and you will see a lot more good articles spawn.
