What is up people? There
hasn't been much up around these parts when it comes down to videogames. After last weeks ending to Alpha's
Picks, I haven't really spent all that much time playing games that you would want to hear about. Just some
occasional Rock Band 2 and some NHL 09 and that is it mostly. Though I did play some Grand Theft Auto 4 and
that was fun for awhile until I remembered how overly realistic that game is. The cars handle like they weigh
40 tons, but have about as much grip as if they where made out of paper. The friends system is a neat idea in
theory, but not when you are getting bothered every 15 minutes to waste another 15 minutes to watch the same
show or watch the screen fade to black while they eat or drink. Sure some of the benefits are worth it, I
guess, but it feels like the game wants you to take your friends out to dinner more than it wants you to play
the ACTUAL game... you know the one where you are stealing cars, shooting dudes and doing missions as some
kind of glorified errand-boy? You know the fun stuff. I'm probably going to just dig in and finish the main
story so that I can maybe give The Lost and Damned a shot.
The Mass Effect 2 trailer was released
the other day and that was a pretty cool teaser. I loved the first game, it was a tie between it and CoD4 for
my 2007 GotY award and this has my interest piqued. I bought DarkSector for new $6.25 a couple weeks ago, I
didn't mention it here because of Alpha's Picks... Haven't even really tried it yet, but for less than 7
bucks, can you go wrong? This weekend is Double XP Weekend in Call of Duty 4, so I am probably going to play
that all weekend, see if I can't "prestige" a couple of more times.
I also got Sonic's Ultimate
Genesis Collection last week and that is pretty fun. Being mostly a "Nintendo Kid" during those days there are
quite a few games on this collection that I haven't played which is cool. Though if you want easy
achievements, SUGC is a pretty good game... most of the goals don't have many restrictions so you can just put
the games on the easy settings and give yourself maximum lives to get the goals. But most of them are
laughably easy that you won't need to so that. For example you can get the Ecco achievement in about a minute.
Load the game, press Start, swim Ecco to the right to start a new game and press the button for your sonar to
talk to the nearest dolphin and boom, 10 points. I only have about 6 more achievements to get, though that
finish "Dr. Robotnic's Mean Bean Machine" one is probably the only one out of my league...
I think
that about covers my week, I'll have more soon, maybe if I make some interesting progress in GTA4 or if I play
some DarkSector. Pretty soon, the new releases will pick back up and I will have a lot to say about the likes
of Resident Evil 5 and such. Watch the Turnovers. Loading Complete!
