What's up, I meant to write NLU Weekly #90, but I missed posting on Saturday, so I am bringing all this stuff to you now. Here is what is on the agenda for today: News and Notes and Closing Out. I'm hoping this will be a quick one, but there should be some interesting things to read about in the very least.

News and Notes
- I picked up a few games last week, none of which cost more than $30. They are as follows: Final Fantasy XI Online, Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom, Project Sylpheed and Raiden Fighters Aces (all X360). I'll get to FF11 in a moment but first, Project Sylpheed and KoF: Circle of Doom are not worth $15 each, don't even bother. Sylpheed is too realistic and complicated for its own good and KoF: Circle of Doom is one of the most boring games that I have ever played and I played through Final Fantasy XII. Raiden Fighters Aces on the other hand is worth the $20, it is a collection of "cl.assic" shoot 'em ups. Again, while fun they are severely challenging, but have plenty of modes, options and settings to tailor the games to your liking or skill level.

- I know you are still dwelling on FF11, let's just say like many Final Fantasy fans I was disappointed when Square thought it was necessary to number the MMORPG edition of the series as if Final Fantasy Online would not have sufficed. It's been tormenting me for years that I have 7, 8, 9, 10 (10-2) and 12... but not 11, so for $15 bucks I grabbed the 360 version. I have no intention of playing it, starting off as a noob in a MMORPG that has been out for 7 years is not my idea of fun, but don't get me wrong though, I was still curious about it. Though after reading about the ludicrous steps for setting up your account, installing the game, installing the updates and then finding out it costs almost as much to play a month ($12.95) as I paid for the disc ($14.99) my curiosity was killed. So it will have to stay sealed for the rest of eternity I guess.

- I have been getting my RPG fix on my 360 though. I decided to give Infinite Undiscovery another shot after playing it for an hour last October. I am now 8 hours in aaaaand... it's okay. The combat is kind of fun, but too loose, it is hard to hit mobile enemies and the flyers tend to never come down to your level. There is also no blocking button so you either have to get out of range or just take it, you can parry certain attacks with LT but it takes insane timing and only works on specific attacks. The voice acting is of the anime st.yle way too loud and way too over the top, but it doesn't matter because the lip-syncing on the characters will have you rolling on the floor. It's either kung-fu movie st.yle (where the mouth keeps moving after the vocals have already ended) or the mouths don't move at all. Weird. Apparently it is only 20 hours or so, so I'll just power my way to the end.

- I have also started to play Chrono Trigger on the DS again, I got about 7 hours in and then as I do with most handheld titles stop playing it. It's nice to play while I am waiting for my room to cool down after I turn off all the equipment (TV, PC and 360). I haven't been quite captured by the game as I thought, but maybe I just have to get deeper, we will see.

- I am thinking if I have time, after I finish Infinite Undiscovery, I may do another RPG Playthrough Log, I am not sure what game I would play, but I think maybe Final Fantasy 10 is a good candidate. But it all depends if I have enough time to play a 40+ hour RPG and write log entries for 2+ hours after each session. Another: We will see.

Closing Out
That about covers my week. Before I go though, I am planning on updating the blog archive website, which hasn't been updated since December 2nd, 2008. I don't know if you guys even go there, but it is a great way to check out any of the over 500 blogs that I have done, though I mostly made it for protection just in case something happens to GameSpot and they lose my originals. I'm done, I'll talk to you later. Fooooocus. Loading Complete!
