@crazyleaves: You can PVP at any time, your stats are just temporarily increased so you can do more damage and have more health while in PVP. The downside is you will lack many key abilities that you'll be getting at later levels, but it's still fun.

I am going to have to try that out. I'm intrigued by the "boost-to-level" PvP design to get new players right into the fray. I can also see entirely how lacking later abilities will be a huge detriment -- I experienced this while "sidekicking" in City of Heroes/Villians in high level content where I may have had upped damage/health but lacked mitigation talents which put me at a singular disadvantage. ξ

@Fish_Face_McGee: A great deal of the issues spoken of could be mitigated by lurking (and learning the terminology even SWTOR is going to have new jargon and learning old jargon is a must for entering any community) and diplomacy. If thou become the center of attention and jargon is flying, it's time to ask what it means either of the person making the points or a veteran friend. It takes time for assimilation to happen into another subculture and even with MMOs veteran players already recognize that new players may not know the terms. ξ

@patrickklepek: Ouch, that's not the sort of thing I want in any subscription service that I belong to. Glad to hear that Microsoft is working on fixing it -- I hope they're ready to refund people who accidentally bought it via click. I know that Amazon one-click and other things are nice and convenient, but at least they have a grace period that lets me immediately cancel it. Furthermore, I must opt-in to one-click. ξ

Fiveshot is a rogue on the Darkspear shard of World of Warcraft, he's well known on YouTube for videos of his exploits. I had the chance to interview him about why he chose YouTube and why World of Warcraft. He has since also started to play on Star Wars: The Old Republic as well. ξ

Not one of my initial beta classes have been healers. I would love to see content describing how they function and how their mechanics work. Since I'd been playing mostly early-game I saw little need of them (even in the Talon Flashpoint) although seeing how there's Tank and Healer specs, I suspect they must become instrumental at some point.

I didn't get very far in because I spent too much time being an altaholic. ξ

Competent? Sure. It's definitely a functioning MMO; but I think that way to much time and production value had been spent on making the game all about the single-player narrative and too little time looked into giving people a reason to team up and stay together.

Flaspoints felt like I was an interactive Star Wars episode, and they immediately broke up afterwards; there's little sense of group accomplishment and it's all about moving the plot forward.

I saw an article hearken it to "Massively Single Player" and it felt exactly like that -- there's a community there, but it really feels massively solo.

I laud BioWare for the interesting conversation mechanism they introduced and I hope that they produce a functional group-finder that includes beacons from friends (i.e. Friend X is looking for a group for Y) so that people have a reason to find one another again in the game. ξ

In 40 years when antiques are all that's left of this gimmick game, I will be there on eBay trying to sell mine for $100 to the highest bidder. Still in the box. ξ

This means that I'll be able to start playing again (I ran out of subscription money.) ξ

"Me too."

Well, that's all I could say. I'm suffering the same sort of issue with Steam. I guess there's just some sort of technical issue between Giantbomb and whatever update setup they have. ξ

Wow. I watched the video here on Giantbomb showing off the FEAR 3 game play; but that didn't even hint at this sort of bizarre foundations for the story. ξ
