"Really bad decision. Guitar Hero ain't gonna last forever. When you're older and your reflexes aren't as good, what the heck are you going to do? That's not to mention that he might not even make it big now.

I'm not even going to bring up the argument about how video games are solely entertainment.

People take video games way too seriously!"
Agreed! Video games are here to be fun last time I checked and people seem to forget that. Anytime you decide to make something you like your profession you lose the enjoyment of that thing.

"Lol, people who think if he gets tutored instead of going to school will mean he will have a shitty future, are pretty retarded. You know what they even teach you in HS? And you act like gaming will be his only job in the future, as in his career, which I doubt. Gaming related? Maybe. But gaming tournaments? No.."
Dude there are standards to get your Diploma that need to be upholded and he won't get all his credits in some time by just having a tutor come to his house for a few hours to teach him stuff. Hes gonna have to get his GED in the future which theres nothing wrong with that but that still leaves College and news flash college aint cheap. HS gives you opportunities to get scholorships that will pay for college so you don't have to work 2 jobs to pay for college!

"Is home schooling really that bad? Lol, I think you guys are overreacting tbh... if you ditched his gaming skills out of the picture it wouldn't be a big deal anyways, it's just home schooling, but since one of the reasons why is so he can get good at professional gaming to enter tournaments and win money, it's a sin? XD"
The article does not say home school it says "in-home tutors" tutors aren't full time so even if he does his education out of the tutors it'll take him more then 2 years because the main focus is gonna be on Guitar Hero.

It's not THAT bad when you think about it, he is still getting his education, and training to get more money in gaming tournaments... win win IMO."
I read the article, about his home tutoring but it's still stupid as hell."
Yah hes totally only gonna be getting tutored like twice a week probably and play guitar hero all week......sounds fun at first but i'm sure it'll get old playing it all the damned time!

Unhiding posts is glitched in IE7.

"Lets just focus on getting mods first"
Y'know what? If GiantBomb is listening or reading this, I volunteer myself to the task. We need *common sense* moderation. You shouldn't get moderated for a few bad words, minor insults, or stating your point of view. However, if someone is just spamming and repeatedly being a dick, then we need to close their topics and give them a warning. In other words, if all of you think that something is disruptive to the board, then it is - if everyone is like "woah, mod, we want this topic open" (so long as it's not like - kiddie porn) then it should be. You need a mod you can turn to and say "hey, what's up? Listen this is how I feel about _________ and I want you to explain why you did _____________" and get an answer. Someone who admits when they've messed up.

I think they should go into a topic and say "look, what's your intent here?" and give you a chance to explain -  but we need *some* form of control here. Otherwise, it's just going to be nuts - we can't expect a bunch of people on their own to have the courtesy to keep "character wars" down to a couple of topics, or to not bump spam posts.

.

However it doesn't *have* to be myself - we just need *someone* - anyone who meets the above criteria - and we need a constraint on them - they answer to Jeff and crew. If you guys are unhappy with them, then that mod gets sat down, and they explain why they did what they did. But we need someone with that power we can turn to.

You might have said it already but why are you using IE7! Getting firefox is the quick and best solution!

Parents let kid drop out of school to focus on guitar hero!

Read, Laugh, Cry , Discuss!

I think its very dumb even tho professional gaming is a good source of income now of days, but your parents are there to stop you from doing stupid shit like this. They could have at least waited till he was 18 and then let him do whatever he wanted. I dropped out when I turned 18 cause I hated school Inow have my GED and am joining the army. looks like thats gonna be this kids only option, that or flipping burgers!
