PSN FILM STORE EUROPE

 
Today the film shop was released in Europe. As always, I build my expectations way too high and then see the real deal.  
 
The spanish film shop sucks. Various cool movies such as Star Trek and Cloverfield aren't even there. And those which are there, like Watchmen, don't support HD nor renting. I created a UK account to see the shop there and check out if I could buy the movies in English (we're Europe right, we should be able to buy things from those shops or something). To my surprise, the UK shop had the SD movies in the Spanish shop in HD and available for renting; plus it had those movies which weren't even in the Spanish shop, such as Star Trek. And how not, I am not able to purchase any of those.  
 
So, Spain gets no love, apparently they think we don't deserve HD, or maybe they think we don't have the technology to support it. And they continue thinking we aren't able to learn more than one language and appreciate original versions. 
 

Battlefield Bad Company 2 BETA

 
Great game. It's like a mix between MW2 and Bad Company 1. The new class types and all the weapons you can achieve are great. The UAV is pretty fun, except when team-mates just shoot you a missile to kill you while you use it. I still haven't achieved various tools, such as the bombardment thingy which brings on jet planes (looks great in-game). I wouldn't say its the MW2 for DICE, and it's too soon to compare them, specially when I still don't have my MW2 copy and this is just a beta. But as a game it's great and it has loads of ways of approaching it.

 So, a week ago I purchased MW2 on Ebay for 45€ after selling the spanish version for 50€. But the problem is the freaking game hasn't shipped yet. I contacted the dude an he said they were having problems with the shipment, I just think he forgot. I didn't get very annoyed by this because, I have a code for the Battlefield Beta!, but guess what, it doesn't work (apparently american accounts in Europe don't work). I'll try it again tomorrow, but if it still doesn't work for me I'll have some sort of give-away in my blog. And finally I don't have money to buy Assassins Creed 2 and I'm getting bored with Borderlands (I think RPGs aren't what I roll with).  
 
So, ebay is shit, Borderlands is getting boring, I'm broke, Battlefield Bad Company 2 beta codes give-away (maybe) and this is going to be a shitty week-end. Yey!

I've been playing the L4D2 demo lately and I liked some things about it, but I don't think those things make it a new game. I liked the new animations and gore added in the zombie mutilations (like when you blow a zombies belly with a shotgun and all his intestines fall out). The new melee weapons give the game a nice new way to play it, wich is extremely satisfying and fun to see. And the new zombie types are cool, but not that impressing. But through my various playthroughs I got the feeling like it was Left 4 Dead 1, with a couple of new featrues. So, this game will be great, but I won't spend 38 € / 56.93 $ on addons and some new maps. When the price reaches around 15 € / 22$ I will be capable of buying it without feeling bad about it. 
 

  
  I checked out the Battlefield moments video at the PS Store, and they totally sold the idea to me. When I watched this video it made me remember the good old Battlefield 2. In the videos they have launched we can see the transportation helicopter back, the reviving system back and the various class types (Assault with med packs, snipers with C4, support with ammo...) back. All of this things and the effort they are showing for the real online experience got me excited. After the forgotten multiplayer on BF Bad Company 1 and the simplified class types and few units on 1943, DICE is situated for making a good looking multiplayer game for consoles. I think they just needed some time to place themselves on the console market and now they look ready to kick veteran battlefield player asses.

Uncharted 2 has gone over all my expectations. I remember I downloaded the Uncharted 1 demo way back in 2007 and hated it, so my expectations for this one were basically the same. But suddenly tons of positive reviews went up, and I had to buy it even if it was going to be a crap. I bought it this Saturday morning and started playing it around 22.00, and suddenly I noticed it was quite late, around 03.00 I thought, I watched the time and it was 06.00. I played over 8 hours without pause (which is kinda preoccupying). But anyways, I finished it this morning and I just loved it.  For a normal type of dude this game can take around 12 hours during a couple of weeks I guess. 
 
Here you have some general impressions:
 

The Good

 

• Awesome storyline: Even though it can be unrealistic, the storyline told through the cutscenes and flashbacks was very entertaining.
• Dialogues: The dialogues aren't super profound, but they were funny in various occasions and managed to make the job.
• Outstanding game-play: The mix between the boss fights, puzzles, dynamic climbing, interactive cutscenes, stealth moments, fighting and shooting is perfect. You won't get bored of having to do the same thing for a long period of time because it won't happen.
• Best graphics of 2009: This game is probably the best game in graphics of the year (or the best game of the year). The city views are amazing, the night and day scenes are formidable, the dynamic textures give the game a lot of life (like the wet clothes during the rain or the snow movement),  the faces are pretty realistic, the lipsinc and expressions are great, and how not, awesome explosions and building deformations!

The Bad

 

• Fan noise: If you don't have a PS3 slim, this game will probably make your fan run pretty fast, making a pretty loud noise.
• Climbing: The climbing is awesome, but you may get stuck in some parts, not very often but it may happen, fortunately you have a tip system if you don't do what you are supposed to, so it isn't almost a problem.
• Freezing: The game froze one time for me at the middle of the campaign, dunno how usual this is.
• If you are reading this, you probably haven't bought the game yet or you haven't finished it yet.
• The game can, in fact, be finished.

 
If you have a PS3, this is a must-buy. Now I am going to figure out if it's normal to beat a game so quickly.
