I encountered an alien ruler (the buffed to hell berserker) for the second time last night. I shot him with an assault rifle and killed him outright thanks to the repeater attachment. 5% chance to immediately kill anything you hit. I literally laughed out loud and said "holy shit!" when it happened. I have to say, I love it when games don't arbitrarily limit effects from affecting certain enemies.

@darkshaper: You're probably spending a bit too much time around here, where Destiny 1 is kind of the red headed stepchild of gaming. The game it's ok to hate! It's gets hard to separate your own feelings from that of the horde.

I don't really see how the Chosen work like the Nemesis system. There is no promotion of enemies, they don't really evolve or anything. They are just three bosses who get pissed off at you depending on what you do. Don't get me wrong, awesome expansion, but the Nemesis system was more intricate than some enemies who recognize you.

I played maybe four hours and man, it's great! The new enemies are really cool, the factions seem awesome. There is SO MUCH going on, it's almost overwhelming. I finally decided to put on my big boy pants and do an ironman playthrough and the tension is great. It definitely feels like a new game and it's completely worth the price of admission.

I'm almost 38, I've got a wife, a kid, a house and a job and I still really enjoy playing games. Both my kid and my wife usually go to bed around 8pm. After that I just stay up and do my thing until way too late in the evening.

@anund: The term "influencer" comes with the connotation of the person being outside of the games industry. They aren't seen as 'professional" outlets that have a direct relationship to devs and studios. They come with the perception of someone from the outside looking in rather than someone working directly within the industry.

There's a fundamental and important difference from a business perspective but I guess to the general audience those lines may be a bit blurry especially to those that might not know how their job actually works.

Yeah. But they do the same thing. They stream various games for an audience that comes mainly to be entertained. I also disagree that the games press is part of the games industry, they are supposed to report on the industry, not be a part of it. Finally, there are several youtubers and twitch personalities who have direct relationships with developers as well, so that distinction does not hold up. Maybe not on the friendly level the giant bomb guys have, but that really shouldn't matter.

It's kind of funny how they often make fun of "influencers" without realizing that basically that is exactly what they are themselves. The only difference is, they have an office and a steady paycheck.

I found the graphics and story and the setting itself pulled me through when the gameplay was rather repetitive. I also found it very stressful to play, and almost didn't come back to it a few times mostly because of the oppressive feel of the game. I'm not one to watch horror movies or anything, and this came close on several occasions. It really kept me on edge. Still, I am really glad I played through it. It was a very unique experience. I just wish I had found all of the runes telling the history of the northmen. Those were excellent, but I missed at least one in every section so never go to hear the end of the stories.
