I have friends that play this game. I think you shouldn't have too much trouble finding matches, although I think you'd be lucky at this point to find someone who doesn't know every heist variation pretty well by now.

Can't see this as anything other than a cynical cash in of a now acclaimed title.

This is a difficult argument to make. Books are the only medium that are pure narrative whereas games are really the only medium that can get away with absolutely no narrative and still be seen as 'good'. Also, games generally don't have very high standards when it comes to storytelling, certainly not on par with many movies/series.

I really can't see an argument as to why a book would be better off adapted into a game as opposed to, as you say, a movie or television series.

But I dunno, maybe The Three Musketeers? Only because every attempted adaption of those novels has always sucked, maybe a game could do better? (I doubt it)

I suppose there's the Witcher, although that is a non-canon continuation rather than a direct adaption. It would probably fall more under your last paragraph about game universes. Sure, it's got the same protagonist as the books, but he has amnesia, as to not leave the new audience in the dark. Now it was a damn good game, as well as its sequel, and has actually spurred me to read the books. So I guess that's one I didn't know I wanted to see adapted but now that it has been, I'm glad it did. If that makes sense?

To put it bluntly, I guess I never really married the two mediums and I kinda think for good reason.

Much rather this than say, Final Fantasy XIII Versus/ XV, which was first announced in 2006.

It inspires more confidence to have a company set a release date and stick to it, I don't want to be informed every time a developer has created a new mesh for the game.

Not many, thanks to the informative ways to the internet.

Perhaps Final Fantasy XIII. To hell with the XIII apologists. Because of my series expectations I found that game truly awful, like, really really terrible.

Oh and also Saints Row 3. Mainly because of the hype around it from this site. The gang loved it, I loathed it. Maybe it's an American thing because I found that game to be terribly unfunny. Like, Meet the Spartans unfunny. Yep...

Might as well throw another one up, popular though it may be.

EA's general ownership and dlc policies. Sure, all the passes and dlc cost a lot, but there's also the massive hassle and inconvenience of having to enter what seems like endless codes and registries to access content that I paid premium for. Because of this, I still haven't played Mass Effect 3, the final chapter in one of my favorite franchises. I'm sure I will eventually but all the hoops they make you jump through really soured me to their business practice. That, and now the boycotting of steam.

As others have said, I'm not getting excited about it until some info is released. It's hard to get excited about pure speculation. That being said, I didn't finish episode 2 (as I played them one after another and got burned out a bit) so maybe I benefit from no real cliffhanger ending.

I had the original with all expansions and 2 with most expansions, but it is hard for me to get excited about this weird series anymore. Anything I've seen from 4 looks like it could be from 3 or 2 (to me at least). That, and the fact this series just resets every 5 or so years, leaving you with the vanilla game with no expansions. If they worked on making the initial release have a bit more substance, it might make a difference but they don't seem to be doing that.

Kinda not the point of your thread I know, just wanted to run my mouth off a little. Sorry!
