I also play new games, believe it or not. And I actually played games that came out this year. Like Alpha Protocol. But that game sucks. As per usual, the ordering on these things is pretty shaky and should be taken with a grain of salt. Chances are, I still like them all enough to put them on this list. Please note that while I am fairly sure Assassin's Creed Brotherhood and Bayonetta are awesome, I haven't played enough of either to form a valid opinion.

  • Yep. No duh. Mass Effect 2 takes everything that makes me iffy on the first game, takes it out back, and shoots it repeatedly in the head. Which is fitting, because the shooting is way better. In fact, I still have trouble understanding how people can like the first game more. Are half-assed RPG/Shooting mechanics, generally lame characters (ASHLEY), endless technical issues, and the Mako better than this? I think not. But those people obviously see something I don't.

  • It wasn't until this game that I actually have gotten "good" at Street Fighter. Or maybe it's because people aren't especially familiar with the Vega matchup for their character of choice. In any case, it's a better version of Street Fighter IV, sans Indestructible, unfortunately.

  • Technical brokenness aside, New Vegas is a much more interesting game to me than Fallout 3 was. Better characters, a somewhat more structured questlines, and a better tone all contribute to this. Sure, I'm not going to cry that TES V isn't using the gamebryo engine, but this game gives it a worthy send-off.

  • Awakening is very much the "Throne of Bhaal" to Origins' "Shadows of Amn". Despite some of the game's shortcomings, including somewhat lame-by-comparison characters and a surprisingly short length, it still manages to be pretty awesome. Especially that choice at the end...

  • While not nearly as mindblowing as MW2, nor as important as COD4, Black Ops manages to assert itself by still being good, but actually understanding the concept of "balance" for once. No longer can a man run wild with quickscoping snipers and pre-patch dual 1887s. Oh, and the campaign is alright, even if the ending is fairly stupid. But I'm also sure that this will be my last Call of Duty game.

  • Yo. It's Halo. But, it's perhaps the best Halo out there. While I still prefer the twitch of COD, I can't deny that Reach is a very impressive game and is deserving of most of the praise it receives.

  • Certainly, I question if I have room in my heart for Nintendo anymore (excluding Fire Emblem and Mario RPGs), but I can't question that SMG 2 is a good game, albeit one that I didn't finish...

  • I'll probably never play it again, but those two or so weeks when I was good at MNC (or everyone else was bad. Not sure), were sufficiently awesome enough for this game to make the list.

  • Once again, a game I can more admire from a distance than in practice. Masochism only goes so far, as does "indie" charm. Once again, did not manage to finish.

  • This is a joke spot. Because Alpha Protocol is not a good game. But I couldn't think of any more 2010 releases that I had played enough to give an opinion on, and I like even numbers. To be clear: STAY AWAY FROM THIS GAME. Even Arcanum is better.
