Somewhere I Belong (Assassin's Creed 2) Music video by me!

If you've been following me and my blogs, you probably know that I make a video tribute to every game that I finish. So I finished AC 2 yesterday, and here is a SPOILER FILLED tribute to the game.
Song: Somewhere I Belong By Linkin Park

Also, I had planned to make a second video with either Carnival of Rust or Breaking the Habit, but I'm feeling too lazy and want to play ME2. Should I make a second vid?

Anyways, enjoy this!

SPOILERS AHEAD

thats very linkin park of you... I did enjoy the video. and the game (it was awesome)

That song is so old, but it fits. That's how I felt playing Ezio. I felt used, less than nothing at the end, just a pawn.

You should apply again when the opportunity pops up for The Luchazine by the way.
Also, prepare for a loooooot of flak for using LP music. The folks here like to pretend they never liked them.

I'm jealous. You've gotten more attention for music videos than I did when I made my music video for Modern Warfare 2.

But yeah. Be prepared to get a lot of hate from GiantBomb users. Most of them like to flex their e-peen music tastes by condemning the band.

LP really does suck tho

And so does everything else that most listeners don't like, right?

My point is that people tend to jump the gun and say whatever they don't like, for whatever reasons, suck. Especially for things they extremely dislike (in which case, probably the band's popularity and whiny lyrics).

It is indeed. Though the original name was based off of a bunch of giant ass Greek rocks with monastery on top of them. =P

So I suppose you can call me biased.

@Meteora:  I know what a Meteora is, I am European after all :P They're not just Greek, but those are the most famous ones.
High five for old LP.

I might not fire you now :)

Thanks everyone. Yeah, I knew people would have a problem with LP, but I remember that someone had once held a poll on GB about whether or not people liked LP, and most of them said they were fine with it and they did like the older songs. So I went ahead with it.

Live in Texas is a really good live record, they sound better than they do on the studio album, so I give them props for that, just their new stuff is rubbish, and collaborations are crap,

I plan to play ME2 very slowly. Take as much time with it as I can and do everything in it I can. Total immersion! :D
The clips are taking up space on my comp, but I guess I'll keep them a little longer and get to making the second video later on.

hum hum i played ME2 like that too.  Are enjoying the game?

Take your time with the videos, just have fun. :)

@Jeust: Oh yes! loving it! It's the best way they could have made a return to the game. Seeing my character from ME1 back in action was a total blast!

@armaan8014: Yeah! And the beginning? For me it couldn't be much better. An awesome experience!

Good job, I like LP's older stuff, but there new stuff blows. Although, it did fit well with the video.

Rarely do I care for these "music videos", as they typically don't have any type of story going with them.

However, yours was fucking great, dood!  I enjoyed the hell out of it, and it wasn't just a bunch of gameplay and kills.  It was cinematic.  Anyone who has completed Assassin's Creed 2 and actually looks at those lyrics can see that it fits perfectly with the game.

Personally, I think it would've been a bit more impactful had you shown a progression of the actual character's armor rather than having him in Altair armor about halfway through the video or so.  Make it lead up to him finally donning that armor.

Nonetheless, a superb job, sir.

As for Linkin Park, I fucking loved Meteora.  Fantastic album.  Hybrid Theory was an album that got me through college (and given that I was living in Phoenix when it came out, I got to see a stellar hometown show of them with Full Devil Jacket at the Celebrity Theatre...IN THE ROUND).  Minutes to Midnight and after, though - I have no interest or care for them.

So for anyone that wants to hate on the use of LP, fuck 'em.  They'll hate anything popular.  There's not a single bad track on Meteora, and I think you picked a great song for the video.

Okay I finally arsed myself to watch the video than just comment on my whining about you getting more attention than my video.

I really like the intro part, it was very synchronized with the reversed guitar riffs (yeah I'm a big LP fan, I did my research before). Just about all of the clips were original, were they? Because I seem to see some frame rate issues based on the recorder or your game, although I noticed a bit of it was intentional (i.e. the millisecond pauses/stutter to match the electronic drum beats right at the end). Though there wasn't a whole lot of action for a song like this, especially during the chorus where it must needed it, but that might be your musical philosophy or taste not to do that. But good music video, you've got some potential. Keep making them, we could use some music video exposure on GiantBomb. =)

What video editor did you use? I use Sony Vegas Movie Studio. If you're interested, click on my mini bio and click my YouTube channel for my music video. I made one for Modern Warfare 2, Assassin's Creed and Dead Space. Ignore the view count on AC and Dead Space; they don't know good quality when they see it. ;) Haven't made any recently, since my video editing were on a laptop that my sister has; and I need to expand my musical taste to put in new videos.

I don't want to derail the thread, so I'm not really going to keep posting beyond this. I just want to say that I love how this is always the counter-argument.

@jakob187 : Thanks duder! And I didn't pay attention to what armor I was wearing, but that is a great idea that you suggested, and I would have done that if I had noticed it. And about Linkin Park, I too loved them until Minutes to Midnight came out (in which they totally screwed up their music style)
With time obviously my musical taste changed, but I still respect them and listen to their songs now and then.

@Meteora: Thanks! And yes frame rate was a problem for me while recording in this game :(  (I just have a 8600gt card).

Actually that was a result of how I make my videos. When I play the game for the first time, I don't have a clear idea of what song I'm supposed to use. So I record a lot of clips that I feel capture the general story/theme of the game. I don't start video making until the game is finished, and as soon as I finish the game, I uninstall it (that's a habit, I don't feel like spoiling my first time playing experience so I remove the games :P), then watch all my clips and decide which song to use. I realized here that I didn't have any action scenes and I did want them, but then I didn't want to return to the game. Can't sacrifice my playing experience for the video you know :D

Yeah I use Vegas too. I took some getting used to, but it is pretty much the best program. And yes! I'll watch your videos too. Always good to share and learn.
By the way, I made three other videos, two for Dragon Age Origins, and one for Dead Space. They're in my youtube channel too, or here's a link to them on Giantbomb.   DA:O : first and second vid, Dead Space vid. Actually I like my DA:O vids more than this one :) (But all have got spoilers)

I couldn't tell you why, but that hyper-anti-Lincoln-Park attitude that people like to pull out is all sorts of irritating to me. I dug the band in middle school or whatever, and I really have no huge stake in defending their honor, but jeez. Is there a shittier, insecure activity possible than shitting on other people's music?

I think it all pretty much boils down to people hating on stuff for being popular, and finding a reason to justifying it after the fact. Yeah, Linkin Park's lyrics are usually more than a little dumb, but it's all great-sounding music. Mike Shinoda is an absurdly talented producer, and the band put out some incredibly catchy tracks in their heyday.

None of that is enough to stop people from latching into it and crapping all over it for the lyrics thing. There are countless other examples: once Ke$ha got big, the cool kids dismissed her as being an Uffie clone; once Crystal Castles got big, the chiptunes scene found the "they borrowed a sample once a decade ago" excuse to begin shitting on them. Hell, I can't thing of a time public opinion has turned around on something faster than it did that Owl City song.

This has gone on way to long, but, yeah, conclusion: people hate popular shit. Don't let that dissuade you, music video guy!
Posted by armaan8014
@Babylonian: No I don't usually let that bother me! So says the music video guy :D
