Dude, that looks badass. I definetely would have liked to have seen that kind of a show. Did someone just hire this group to dance at a personal party or was this organized in some way?

So this is really just a quick note to get the site achievement...heh I don't know what it is about achievements that just make me want to get them when they really have absolutely no bearing on life...but that's beside my point.

So, where do I find the time to blog? I mean, I'm a gamer, and I can't even find the time to commit to finishing all of the games I buy! I still want to finish Final Fantasy XIII, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 single player, and not to mention get back into online gaming in games I loved such as Modern Warfare 2 or BF:BC2 again (lately, the SC2 beta has been eating up my hours) LoL. But seriously, between the fact that there's always a game that I sink time into, work, TV shows, and trying to have some semblance of a social life...where could I possibly find the time to write a regular blog?

Hmm...no responses are really necessary here...I just thought since I had to write SOMETHING...that I might as well ponder my thoughts "out loud" so to speak.

Personally I feel that the only thing boxed copies of games and/or movies, etc serve to do is add to clutter...boasting can be done just as easily by listing off or seeing a list of games.

As far as PC goes, I think that Steam is one of the best things that has happened to gaming in ages...no need to go rooting through countless cds and dvds to find the game you want or searching for old manuals for a cd key that you haven't used in years...boxes take up way too much room and when moving from residence to residence as people are bound to do multiple times in their life some of those things are going to get lost along the way. The "cloud" setup of Steam also makes it incredibly easy to install and re-install games time and time again so long as you keep your account...I would much rather choose what games I want on my computer from my Steam list than go rooting through a folder or rummaging through boxes to find the game I want.

When it comes to consoles, most of the business is still through hard copies, and I don't mind seeing my Xbox 360 games stacked by my TV usually. Hard copies also make the used gaming market nice mainly because there aren't things like cd-keys and such involved when it comes to consoles...a hard copy of a disc will run the same on any console...which I arguably prefer. I can't even count the number of times I've gotten used games later on at a better price (I feel) only to get the same satisfaction from a game that I wouldn't have been able to afford at launch. Borrowing copies from friends is also another good thing, especially when it comes to single player games, etc. That's not to say however, that I don't still think that the XBLA approach isn't nice...I love my 360 for precisely that reason (among others) as I have enjoyed plenty of games from there as well.

Personally, while I think that hard copies are nice, there is no denying that digital distribution is the future of gaming. As the "cloud" becomes more and more present in our lives and devices become more and more intertwined, digital forms of all media is going to be inevitable, as the ever-increasing popularity of Steam, XBLA, PSN, and countless other services are proving. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised soon if sometime in the future you could get a game on Steam (or another digital service) and stream that game to your other media outlet (from PC to TV/console or vice-versa) and just simply switch between control schemes so that you only need to buy any game once.

Personally I think a puzzle game based on what this poem sounds to be, with the visuals done right as well as the narrative could be incredibly fucking awesome...what I meant by understandable was that I can see WHY they're doing it as a action-game. Regardless, I'll withhold judgement until I get to play it and see first-hand...it still looks cool to me imo...and as someone who's never read the poem I could care less about the source material honestly...even if it is a shame that they're interpretting it differently.

@LiquidPrince
Ok ok I'll give you that...he does look kinda off....although if you ask me, Kratos looks retarded too in the games, that's just what I think...all things in context though I suppose...

" @LiquidPrinceAgain, you're stating something as if it's fact when in reality it's very much your own opinion...I'm sure that lot's of people probably have their own idea of what invokes that awe factor for them. On another note, I don't think a trailer is a very good judgement or representation of what is in the game that might invoke that "awe" factor...how can you say there's nothing there when the game isn't even out yet? Personally however I think there are a few moments in the trailers that for me looked pretty damn epic...but that's just my opinion... "
Not once did I say it wasn't my opinion. Although I am telling you the definition that I believe makes a game epic. The themes in Dante's Inferno with the seven deadly sins and the nine circles of hell are really intriguing, but they are not being used effectivley, from what I've seen so far. If you come and make a game in the same genre as God of War, then you must strive to be bigger then it, especially when dealing with such an amazing concept. It's similar to how when you come to make a shooter you need to strive to be better the Call of Duty or Killzone. You can't make a shittier shooter and intend invoke awe in the player. "
I'll agree with you on most of those points, and I apologize if I read your posts wrong, it just came across that way initially. I fully believe in everyone's right to their own opinion...and that's actually part of the reason I started this thread, for some healthy discussion.

As far as how awe-inspring the game is or will be, I suppose that's subjective. And from what I've seen I'm quite looking forward to seeing what they do. Everything else remains to be seen. If it comes out and it sucks, well...then I'll either:
a. Eat my hat
or
b. Be one of the first to call it out for sucking.

I'm not even sure when it's gonna come out, but I am fully prepared to take the flak if it is a disappointment...and I'll be especially let down....but hey, that comes with public forum posting right? (I'm reminded of a funny incident I heard about with Denis Dyack on NeoGaf when it came to Too Human LoLoL...not that I'm him....but yea, you get my drift...I hope =P)

" Your title is wrong. It should be "Why Dante's Inferno is NOT God of War."It seems to me that you basically "played" this game, explained to me the differences and did not offer any type of arguement that would support your claim as to why Dante's is better than GoWIII.I also think people know that they are in the same GENRE. GENRE. GEEEEENNNNREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. You want me to repeat that? (I'm not making fun of you btw) ((That wasn't sarcasm btw)) (((I'm serious btw))) ((((Not kidding I REALLY AM!!!)))) (((((btw))))) "
The only point there that may have been constructive is the fact that your title suggestion is slightly better. But in all seriousness, thank you sir for such an enlightening post. (THAT was sarcasm...just in case you didn't catch that. Kthxbai.)

The game is called Dante's Inferno, and takes the names of characters from the text, yet its so disconnected from original concept and context (a poet essentially getting a guided tour of Hell), that it truly is absurd.  At the very least, Devil May Cry may have taken character names and some inspiration from Dante's Inferno, but Capcom was never foolish enough to call the game Dante's Inferno.

There is absolutely no reason that this game needs to be called Dante's Inferno, nor is there any real need for an action game of all things "based" on it.I don't want to be a literature snob, but I can't really help myself when it comes to this exact sort of thing.  It is ridiculous that of all of the public domain stories that EA chose to mine in order to make a game, they took Dante's Inferno and then turned it into the least suitable genre of game possible.  The only way that this could have been any more idiotic is if they had chosen to make a Dante's Inferno FPS instead.  Truly, are they so hard-up for ideas, so utterly lazy, that they can't even come up with a similar premise that isn't related to Dante's Inferno, or mine a piece of public domain literature that actually is an action-adventure?It's really as if EA had decided to make a game based on The Tale of Genji, but ripped out all of the court romance aspects and the general lack of violent death and turned it into a ghost-slaughtering action game.  Dismal. "
Granted I've never read the poem that they're saying this is based on...yet from what I can tell it seems that it's a very serious and deep piece of literature, which I can completely respect. However, that being said...what kind of game does this source material lend itself to...and keep in mind that this is EA, so it should be something that will appeal to the masses. If what I can gather from what you said about the poem being a "tour" of Hell, I personally kind of find their interpretation understandable. I wouldn't really want to just walk through hell...although there may be some ways to make an action game like that interesting, the action part of it is where the mass appeal comes in. Maybe they didn't need the exact same name, but oh well *shrug*.

Anywho, on the topic of Force Unleashed...are you kidding?  That WAS the best Star Wars ANYTHING that isn't Empire!  The acting was fucking EXCELLENT in that game, and Starkiller's story is one that should've been made into a damn good movie.
"
Oh I'm sure you're wrong about a lot, but for the most part I think we think alike...great minds and all that yknow? LoL I just wish I could have a forum rank titled "Self-proclaimed Achievement Snatcher"

As for the game, ohmygod the story was so epic...I'm a Sam Witwer fan to begin with (he plays Starkiller) and yes, that could've been a freaking excellent movie...I love how it sets everything up. The last time I enjoyed a Star Wars story this much was KOTOR.

Saying it's a God of War clone, which it is, does not mean people are shutting it away. It's the fact that while it looks solid, it just doesn't look as epic as God of War in any way. I mean this is HELL we're talking about. There should be brutal large gory vista's and such. Or maybe they could have tried to do something original and unexpected by having hell look really pretty but then when you enter everything would turn to shit. Something epic or original. Just making big bosses doesn't make a game epic, but so far from what I've seen, it doesn't seem Dante's Inferno gets that. "
Are you serious? I don't think we've been watching the same videos, because the Hell I've been seeing in the trailers and such is freakin disturbing and gory...and I love the way they're using the seven deadly sins as the circles of Hell each with a theme...as far as how "epic" it looks in comparison to God of War, I believe that is incredibly subjective so stating it as a fact like you did is kinda arrogant if you ask me. But all things aside, you're entitled to your opinion as much as I'm entitled to mine.
