Waluigi is the Mario character I like at this point.

I will say for me watching videos of games does actually replace playing them sometimes in my mind or checking them out. Not a ton but it does happen.

  • Life is Strange, Contradiction, and Until Dawn are all examples of games I probably would have bought and played but instead watched.
  • I am a hot and cold Souls fan so I have watched them play the back half of Dark Souls instead of play it myself here on GB. I stopped basically right where Vinny had so his load your last save was basically like loading mine.
  • GB got me into Persona with the 4 stream, but I played 3 after and loved it. I've considered playing 4 but having watched it I don't, at least not without a good way to play Golden off a portable.
  • I was going to go black and replay some Metal Gear Solid before V came out (particularly 3 and 4) and Metal Gear Scanlon replaced that for me. Watching brought me the enjoyment I wanted. Those are games I have already played, but I would have re bought them and played them again otherwise.

I make this post because some people in this thread act like no one does this and it's an impossibility or doesn't make sense. You can still get a lot of aspects out of just watching certain games, sometimes a lot of the important ones depending on your tastes.

Why is it games like this still don't have easy access to a cheap respec option by default? I know it could be easily abused, but the time saved from salvaging aborted playthroughs would be completely worth it. I never finished the first Original Sin due to building my characters wrong (and the dang rock-paper-scissors minigame, ugh). I wound up looking around for a mod, and giving up when the game wouldn't stop complaining about altered save files.

Hopefully if they have a good set of default classes for the pre-created characters in OS II, I can just take the out of the box options and still have a good time. Can't pick the game up right away though, so I'm interested to hear what you guys wind up doing.

You can fully respec everyone for free at the beginning of Act II now.

That's cool. I kind of wish RPG developers would find way to address these kind of problems through design but that solution works too.

Haven't played yet but just looking at this game it seems like they have made a ton of smart decisions with it.

@meierthered: Yeah, plus I also played this game with a mod to let you make all 4 characters yourself, which is great but think about how long I may have spent making my parties alone... I don't want to say it lol.

@clockout: I actually did not completely hate Atlus' position either actually. I think they were trying to be respectful of the product. I think creators of things should have rights with their product if they really want to. So the whole thing is a bit tough for me.

I did forget some other times this has happened before. The Beastcast brought that to mind, with Nintendo and like @oursin_360 says Rockstar. But it never went to court in the way that would decide anything.

It's not. The whole thing could possibly be blown up by a court case. That's why some really don't like Campo Santo with the DMCA thing and all that.

It's kind of a thing where at any time a case that establishes precedent could come along so people are on edge about it for sure.

Do not agree with your "weirdo" statement. There's obviously a clear argument about why streaming games is just fine. The reason publishers mostly have let it go is because it is viewed as beneficial and basically advertising for the game, which is pretty right on IMO. Campo Santo thinks it's fine as well btw, it's just because they don't like Pew Die Pie. So trying to paint it as the same as Atlus is off. Atlus is kind of on an island to my knowledge with that.

@oursin_360: I'll def check that stuff out and get back to you. Honestly I was just digging into the gameplay so I didn't do more than a pick and roll in the first game lol.

LIVE seems fine but not much with any fleshed out features. Some people really like the gameplay but I didn't think so much of the demo. Playing this, it seems quite a bit better with everything going on, especially the animation work. It is cheaper though so you have to give it that (at least right now I think it is). And I'm also someone who digs into all the many features of 2K.

It's my favorite sport and I like they way they dribble up and down the court.

If you pre-ordered you can now play 2k18! Playing on PC. I almost waited but for me the sounds of what is new drew me in.

Early impressions here since I only have made a MyPlayer and played one game so far with my Celtics. The characters creation seems WAY better now (they finally made new faces!, you can even make a white guy who doesn't look weird now).

The gameplay seems quite different. What got me excited this year was talk that animation priority was going down. For those who don't know, it's basically how NBA 2K has sort of locked you into animations over the years. It had become so with a flick of the stick you are locking yourself into a long animation that may not be what you expected at all, and in the end this leads to a feeling of a lack of control. Now, a lot of that is gone. Aside from lay ups, pretty much the game doens't feel like you are locking into anything. So far it has led to a way smoother game.

The Celtics are also really fun to play as. Given all their changes, kind of a cool videogame moment to jump into the team and try to figure it out before the season.

Other changes:

  • Shot meter is way different and it gives you feedback on how contested your shot was, which is pretty huge I think. It was hard to tell exactly how covered you were before.
  • The players basically all look WAY better. Even end of bench guys for the Celtics are dead on. Brad Stevens looks AWFUL tho so they didn't do coaches well (at least some of them). The body types look way better and realistic to the players. They didn't redo classic players though (at least a number of them) so the same ugly models for some of those guys.
  • I need to dig into the new dribble controls but so far so good.

I'll post more later. Have to go to work.

I have spent hours creating characters in the first game only to restart later so I can't help you lol. I have the character creation sickness.

@fisk0: That's a good call. I almost brought it up. I think it does actually straight up say to stop playing in the loading screen text. But it isn't mechanical.
