Erhm...it's been 4-6 days of intense competition in the Beijing Olympics. So far, China's impressed us with a freakin awesome display of fireworks and their culture in the Opening Ceremony. But man, China's been controversial...lately.
Anyway, right now the United States has 34 medals right now, and we're 1 medal behind the leader, China, with 35 medals. China still has the most golds, having 22. US only has 10. Damn China, I'm thinking the Olympics is rigged!!! :P Anyway, S. Korea trails in third with 16 medals; 6 gold. We've been having a great start so far. Hopefully the next week will be even more intense, since Track & Field is set to go underway next week.
Anyway, here's what I know so far from the latest results:
- USA Men's Gymnastics team finished 3rd with the Bronze, with Japan winning with Silver, and of course, China with the Gold.
- Women's Gymnastics lost their chance of winning the gold medal, losing to China and grabbing the silver. Alicia Sacramone felt like it was "her fault" that the team did not get the gold. (Man I feel bad for her, but don't fret girl!!! There's still the individual competition!!!)
- Michael Phelps has won 5 gold medals in the Swimming competition so far, breaking World and Olympic records on the way. Guy's unbelievable!!! He is the biggest star for the USA so far, and well on his way to breaking the Olympic record for career gold medals. Rock on dude!!
- Sacre bleu!!! The French said a few days ago that they were "going to crush the Americans" on the 400m relay race. Ha! Bitches!! Who's talking now!?!?!
Watch this video, it's fucking awesome, and how "ze Americans" shut the French up!!!
- USA Basketball team has beaten China in the opener, as well as Greece, advancing to medal qualifier. Same happened with the USA Women's. Go for the gold!!
-OH yeah, USA sweeps Sabre Fencing, winning Bronze, Silver and Gold...all-American!! That's awesome...
- USA Men's Volleyball remains undefeated; picked up another win against Bulgaria recently, 3-1.
O...k...controversial stuff....of course...our subject...is China.
- During the opening ceremony, the little girl who was singing...was not actually her!!! It was the voice of a 1st grader (meaning the girl in the Opener pulled a Milli Vanilli/Ashlee Simpson on us!!! And we fell for it!!), who, Chinese officials thought she "did not look the part."
- Some of the fireworks in the Opener were actually fake, and some were CGI. Woooooow....
- Members of the Chinese women's gymnastics were actually underage!!! Lowest probably 12-13 years of age.
That's all I know so far. I can't wait to see more Wrestling, Taekwondo, Track, and some more Swimming and Gymnastics. What do you guys want to see next?
