GOTY 2011

Now that 2011’s winding down--and cultists, religious nuts, and paranoid, conspiracy theory freaks everywhere are busy preparing for the end of the Mayan calendar next year, I think it’s just about time I ranked my top games of 2011. Overall, it’s been an underwhelming period for the industry, but majority of the titles I played were enjoyable nonetheless. I’ve played more than 20 games this year--which is more than any year--and I’d say I’m proud of that achievement.

I won’t bore you any further though; here are my top 10 games of 2011.

Portal 2 should be number 1!

Also, I just recently played Warhammer because it was for for PS+ and it definitely deserves more attention. I never paid any attention to the franchise so my expectations were low going in but damn that game was awesome. I need to test out that multiplayer.

@awesomeusername: Lol it was definitely hard to choose between Portal 2, Arkham City, and Skyrim, but eventually ended with Skyrim. I've never played an Elder Scrolls game before, so a lot of what I played in that game I enjoyed. And yeah, Space Marine should get more recognition. The single player is pretty rad, but I somehow found myself spending way more time with the multiplayer. It's surprisingly fun. It sucks at first, but once you get the hang of it (especially using the jetpack), it's really enjoyable.

@asian_pride: Skyrim was my only Elder Scrolls also, I haven't beat it though because I don't own it. I'll buy it when the GOTY edition comes out.

I've seen some of the forums for Space Marine and everyone says the multiplayer is really good so I'm going to have to play it before my PS+ runs out in 3 months. I would try to platinum the game but there's multiplayer trophies and then the trophy to get 40,000 cumulative kills. That's too much for me.

@awesomeusername: Yeah that 40,000 thing is too much, and I'd rather move on to other games than do that.

@asian_pride: Way too much. Some trophies are just so tedious and take up too much of your time. The people who make such stupid trophies should be slapped.

@awesomeusername: Lol I wouldn't go that far, but sure. I'm not that big on trophies, but I enjoy platinuming games I enjoy.

@asian_pride: I would! Why would they make such a trophy? Maybe they just want to troll us. I'm a trophy whore so I play anything with trophies. That's why I'm torturing myself playing Ninja Gaiden 3. One game I found not worth it though is on your 2010 game list. It's Final Fantasy XIII. That game is unbearable.

@awesomeusername: Yeah...Final Fantasy XIII. You know, I had similar feelings when I first played it, but I decided to stick around because I was willing to give it a chance. I don't know, for me, I kinda came around and enjoyed it somewhat. It's not great, but it's not the worst either.
