"My heart belongs to Giant Bomb" makes me feel weird as I browse

Ryan posted something interesting here.  I listened to it and it was so cheesy but I really liked it.  I downloaded it...

Direct link to the song

I've been listening to it while browsing this site and even though it's super cheesy, it hits me with a weird feeling.  I started thinking of what was going on at the beginning of this year, and how excited I was that these guys were setting up a website like this.  I started thinking of how much work, and effort has gone into this site.  All the while, the song looping in the background.  Was kinda surreal.  I've really enjoyed this site and everything we're capable of doing.  The podcast is also great, I have almost every one inside their own folder and get the new ones right as they come out.

I was one of the first people to create an account here, I randomly checked the site one night and it still wasn't up.   I hit refresh right before going to bed and the site popped up, hit me like a ton of bricks.  Set my account up and started surfing.  Been here since.

So thanks Jeff, Ryan, Brad and Vinny.  This site is awesome, great job.

It's a masterpiece. It has no business in the Bombcast, but it's a masterpiece.

Yeah, I'll agree that it was well produced but a good song? It made my head hurt. It's saccharine to the point of being coma inducing.

This site is certainly my favorite video game website. I was a long time user on gamespot before all that crap happened. It was pretty crazy. I was going around the gamespot forums telling everyone to unsubscribe from their gold accounts and abandon the site. People were making videos and pictures and everyone was talking about ethics in journalism. I'm sure some of you came to this site the same way and remember how crazy it was. Here's the best video I saw that come out of that whole deal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUn5aJ6F3zg. It certainly shook up the video game journalism world which is bananas considering it was just over one dude. I'm really happy Jeff made his own site instead of just getting hired by like IGN or something. I really hope this site really takes off and gets advertisers and everything. I'll click the ads every time I am on.

The GiantBomg song is brilliant.

My GF likes the song more than GB.

News section is the weak spot, except this, GiantBomb is the only video game website that I felt being capable of staying. Others like Gamespot are counting money, or IGN redesigning every minute, or look for a way to increase their money.

Now that's what I call superliminal advertising.

That song is incredibly well made, but has a terrible style...  Render the Giant Bomb song through an ACDC filter and then you have your anthem.

Noobish Question: How do you download it?

Right click - save target as.
Control - Save link as (Mac)

This song is pretty epic, even if I can't listen to it more than 2-3 times every few months. I have had my fill for now. I'll come back later.

Two thumbs way up!

I have a related problem: I hate the song, but it goes through my head every fucking time I type in the Giant Bomb URL. This has been happening since the original post. It's driving me insane. Maybe that's why I hate it.

When they first released this, I couldn't believe it. It seemed too awesome to be true.

Also, I love how Jeff screams "WHAT?!" in the background after the part where it says "I'm movin' to San Francisco just to follow them around in my van."

Right-click, save as.

Edit: That's what I get for not refreshing. Good stuff.

I think this site is great and everything, but if anybody who runs the site is reading this, realise your fans are INSANE!

Edited by Disgaeamad

It's practically impossible for them to not have noticed that we're all batshit insane.

Especially Jacki.

I've been on gamespot for a few years too before giantbomb (still have an account there... duno for what though...). I saw many on the spots and listend to many hot spots. But since Jeff, Ryan, Brad, and other left, it just wasn't thesame. And especially not the way Jeff went out. Gamespot lost its soul and identity.

I followed the blog Jeff put out that was here before Giantbomb.com, and saw it slowly coming together as a site, when other joined. I've been member since day one, have never missed a podcast and the endurance run ftw! Every day I turn my mac on, the first thing I do, is check giantbomb. It's awesome, and damn, I love it!

Dude, I know!

I've been thinking about this ever since they announced RBN, but, how pathetic is it that I don't have an xbox anymore?  If anyone lives in LA, can I borrow your xbox just to put this song up?

Also, thanks everyone for the comments, I love that some people love it and others hate it.  I also love and hate it. It sucks so bad, but so good!

Great song and post!

Congrats to the authors!

I remember when they put the link up to the song the first time... I had it on my iPod for weeks, listened to it in my car as I grinned like an idiot while driving to college... Even Brass is a musical genius.

Me too, created my profile on day 1, man. But it doesn't show up on my profile... I used my old Gamertag to create my 1st profile here. It was retarded, it was just my name and some random numbers. I changed it a few months later when I changed my gamertag... Wait, looking at your profile, I can't find your "join on" date. Did they move it, or is it just not shown anymore?

Giantbomb is probably my favorite and most visited site. It's fun as hell with a great sense of community, and it's led me to the other Whiskey Media sites. I check it multiple times a day, watch every Quicklook, and love it to death. The song encompasses my emotions perfectly; My Heart Belongs to Giantbomb.

Posted by Glak

I've been a lurker here since the 2human video and the fact that I chose this website to create my first account shows how great it is
Thanks to whoever bumped this thread 'cause i head this on the podcast and was wondering where I could find it :)

A video i think you will enjoy, with the music.

Like a few others have said before, I'm concerned the Giantbomb crew won't be able to be themselves anymore. Now that they share their office space with the rest of the Whiskey Media websites they will have to be a bit more courteous. It's also ironic how the old Gamespot crew is slowly starting to come back together again. I just hope Whiskey Media doesn't get so big to the point where Jeff gets fired again because he gave a game a low review score and some publisher threatens to pull advertising support.

Looked up the song. I don't know what genre of music that is, but it's beyond terrible.

Song makes up for it by being hilarious, though!

I'm amazed this thread resurfaced just days before I listened to that episode again (today). Anyway, my heart belong to Giant Bomb and all that stuff.

This song is amazing for what it is.
