I think it is just a cycle thing. Though they may never be the AAA games, someone will make a game in the spirit of the original games. The barrier to entry on game development has never been lower. Even mods/levels of stuff from games often end up as lower budget titles of decent quality. Just wait it out

This isn't a big deal. XNA apps, like any app, could theoretically be listed in the store, you just can't directly buy, install and patch them through that store. But you also can't do that with quicken, photoshop, etc... Although it is more powerful than what im about to describe, the metro stuff I saw at the build conference this week essentially boils down to a super start menu with embedded widgets. Games, and hardcore apps like photoshop, office, programming tools, etc will still use the traditional desktop and this is where games will reside as well...

Much like X-Com the first person nature of all these remakes puts me off a bit, but not so much that I won't give it a chance. Where my isometric games at?

I was so happy when Mass Effect 3 was delayed for just this reason... Skyrim, Batman:AC, Gears3, Forza 4, Uncharted 3, Rage, etc etc etc

I generally consider most politicians full of shit and doing lots of handwaving and silly things on camera, but Jack was a really trustworthy and charismatic guy. I know people that lean all different ways politically and I think few would every try to knock his character. Genuine, dedicated, optimistic... everyone should be more like Jack. R.I.P.

Blade runner is one of my favorite movies of all time. I really don't want anything else in the universe. In some ways no matter how good it is I think, like many classic 80's sci-fi movies and shows, the changes in production style won't give it the same feel. A bad sequel won't ruin my love of the first, but I'd still prefer it to stand alone...

Carmack tweeted earlier that his keynote, and therefore hopefully most of the other stuff, should stream on both the site and youtube.
