Woah! Video Games? Yeah I've been playing some! Time to blog while listening to bombcast <3

Reimi is my waifu
Reimi is my waifu
Just hit over 60 hours in Star Ocean: The Last Hope. That game is really addictive. Even though it recieved really mixed reviews all over the place the battle system and item creation is deep enougth to keep me returning. I am getting near the end of the game but I've decided to hold off that boss fight for finishing up some quests. My main issue is that the majority of the quest information is on disc 2 and I find myself switching between disc 2 and 3 quite often. This is not something I have experienced before as most games tend to get all that ending/quest information on the last disc.. so it's a really odd thing. Still has not stopped me enjoying this game! Also Reimi is my waifu!

I purchased Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War II yesterday. I played about 4 missions on co-op. My PC runs it okay so it's pretty fun but there were some slow down moments which was quite annoying. Maybe it was the lag.. I don't know. So far it's pretty fun, simple but enjoyable. I like how my commander (who I named Mr.Bubbles) just runs up into a group of Orc's and chainsaws them! So funny~

Can't wait to play!
Can't wait to play!
Also on the PC is Aion Online. Finally got my beta key! I have not yet managed to get in game sadly. I was 98% downloaded when they closed the servers again until July 2nd. Trying to decide who I want to play as Scout or Mage. Most mmo's I've played in the past have had me choosing the fast, agile killer. Theif/Assassin/Hunter type characters. I thought it would be good to change it all up and be a mage/spiritmaster. Then again I kind of like to level alone for a while before getting to a point where I need a priest and then helping someone level up from there.... I am not sure yet. Advice is welcome please!

Back on the Xbox 360 is Rocket Riot on XBLA.  Where the hell did this gem come from!!? Honestly never saw this advertised anywhere until my friend at work told me about it. I downloaded the demo and purchased it 3 mins later. So addictive. I'm half way through the campaign mode (level 43 or something) and it's very fun. The deathmatch levels are getting a little repetative but I really like the hot and cold and destroy blocks stuff. Online Rugby Riot is too fun - couple of my friends have been making teams and its all about control and avoiding getting hit and learning how to throw the ball. Played some online golden guy and block destroy as well which is also very addictive. I really recommend people try this game out.

Delicious Etna.
Delicious Etna.
In bed I bust out my Red PSP 3000 series to check out Prinny: Can I really be the hero? which is really hard. I was not to big into Megaman when I was younger so I am not used to really tough platform games, Prinny is so much fun even if I have already lost 30 of my lives and am only up to level 4. The bosses are really interesting though and it's really fun to work out how to kill each one. Of course the art style is amazing and even if I've never been a massive Disgaea player I am really enjoying the characters and story. It's actually making me want to restart my Disgaea Afternoon of Darkness game on PSP.

So that is it! Google Chrome is crashing :( So the podcast just stopped playing, sucks to be me! Time to send off a bug report!

I love getting mail and today was no exception.

First of all because I got another awesome title to add to my PSP library and play tonight in bed but also this cool Etna folder I can use when I head off to London Met Uni in September.

Is this game (pictured) any good? I can't wait to play it!

In other news Yosumin Live came out today, it's so cute O_o;; Anyone get it? I am really tempted to buy it.

ALSO Modern Warfare 2 trailer is totally delicious.

Petey protects the boooooks.
Petey protects the boooooks.
Been on a reading boom at the moment. Keep leaving my DS and PSP at home as playing them on the bus requires headphones which I don't have (just annoying mobile phone ones with the odd connecter at the end). So I've taken to reading.

Just finished up the original 'The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya' which many of you will probably know from the anime, the novel is great and I heard there are 7 all together that inspired the anime. Can't wait to get my hands on them all.

The next 2 books on my list are 'World War Z' by Max Brooks. It's basically a report about the Zombie War, it's written quite seriously but it's pretty funny too. It's about Zombies for gods sakes! Well worth a look at.

My last is the Gears of War novel 'Aspho Fields' by Karen Traviss. I used to ignore these books but after enjoying some of the Halo series and the Metal Gear Solid novel, I am giving them a second chance.

Also I got that cute Petey plushie, couldn't resist. He is so colourful <3

All of this is awesome!
All of this is awesome!
Oh wow, sorry I've been away for so long. I've been really busy with a bunch of projects, I will be on the latest BSHAF so keep an ear out. Consolemonster.com is fantastic, I am really enjoying my time there and the staff are brilliant. My blog Viera.nu is getting more hits than usual, I am trying to post up more editorial stuff rather than random blogs, so I have random crap to spam here.

As you can tell by the title, I've been having a little RE5 fever. 33 hours already, 1000 GS, 100% completion and all of mercenaries mode unlocked (with characters). I'm pretty impressed with myself, not that it's that hard to do but still feel happy! I don't know what is so addicting about this title but I cannot put it down. I loved RE4 so much but it does not even compare to how enjoyable RE5 is - a bold statement.

In other news I have been rocking out my new PSP 3000 Radiant Red. I got tierd of my White PSP 1000 taking it's sweet ass time to load my games and it was about time I treat myself good and proper. There she is running Star Ocean Second Evolution, which is fantastic by the way. Well worth your time! Next to it is a copy of Patapon 2 which Toronto Thumbs got me as a welcoming gift for joining their team to review portable games. I'll make sure to link you to the upcoming review as soon as it is up.

The little pixel art decorations under are from a fan of the Podcastle and friend over at Destructoid, Loco Gordo. He even popped in a small Canada badge for me, I want to visit Canada at some point in my life. I've done America (Virginia, New York, Seattle PAX 07 and Florida) and would like to check out the land of the bagged milk. Thanks again Loco!

Things calming down a little at the moment, work is plodding along and I am still waiting to hear back from a publisher *crosses fingers*, hope it is soon. Right, I am off to play some more mercs.

An aesthetic charm! (XBLM)
Point-and-click adventure games have been enjoying some reasonable popularity on the Xbox Live Arcade service as of late with classic titles such as Sam & Max and The Secret of Monkey Island. I’ve always enjoyed this genre but have never really appreciated them fully until recently, which was why I ...

Batman's Greatest Game Ever (X360)
We can all admit Batman’s previous appearances in the gaming world were never all that impressive. So it was weird to be quite excited about his latest gritty outing in Arkham Asylum. Rather than produce a game version of the Dark Knight’s latest movie, Rocksteady had created a third-person action ...

An Arcade game with Serious Polish and Replayability. (XBLM)
There is something about buying arcade games lately that leaves me expecting nothing more than a simple, quick title. It’s usually an impulse buy, something to play while I wait for friends to come online or a quick distraction from a busy day. Which is why I was honestly shocked ...

A Colourful but Bland Puzzler (XBLM)
With production values of arcade games on the rise and more serious stories to be told, it’s nice to sit back and enjoy a simple arcade puzzler. Gel: Set & Match appears to be a no nonsense Tetris-like platformer full of bright colours and simplistic gameplay for anyone who needs ...

A good time killer but nothing special. (X360)
Welcome to Ancaria home of T-Energy and dungeon running dreams. If collecting loot, grinding levels and completing quests is your cup of tea, then you are going to be enjoying a couple hundred hours running around this rather colourful and open world. Boasting over 500 quests, a whole range of ...

Old and Unpolished. (XBLM)

Death could of been much sweeter. (X360)
It’s always refreshing to see a game without a number or subtitle on the box, especially a good old stealth title. Snake has grown old and Splinter Cell Conviction is taking too dammed long to get released, so anything to keep the genre going is welcome. Which is why Velvet ...
