  • Honestly I am not that surprised how much I liked SOMA. Amnesia: The Dark Descent is one of my favorite games ever, but SOMA surprised me in the way it shows how Frictional Games have matured, and grown as a developer. Not just in size, but in ability as well. Yes its bigger and looks better, but it also delivers a much more involved story that is one of the very best I have had the pleasure to experience in games, period. Its mind bending and philosophical science fiction that asks questions that I still often think about.

  • This game is just the best. There isn't a thing I don't love about it. I think it has incredible style that is just so consistent to really make it so very special. Which involves the squid kids, their clothing styles, the music, the side characters, the look of the weapons. Its all incredibly cohesive. Its also endlessly fun, with that wonderful polish that keeps me going back again again.

  • Probably one of the densest games I have ever played. I still have so much left to do, but still love it dearly. Quantity is far from everything it has to offer though. Almost all of it is so very well done and well thought out that it kept surprising me again and again.

  • Just amazing to to experience. Not only for everything it does right, but for the weird, very unconventional design decisions that sometimes leave you baffled. It has combat I really love, huge awesome looking mechs, tons of things to do. In a year of big games, it might be the biggest. It also has issues, like a disjointed story, quests that rarely explain themselves, nonsensical progression. Even with that, I love it throughout and its easily one of my favorite games this year.

  • A huge surprise that I liked this as much as I did. I still feel it has quite a few issues, but there is enough there to really make it memorable. It has so much heart and certain moments are some of the best I have experienced in a game.

  • Another unrelenting assault on your senses, Wrong Number is just as visceral and satisfying as its predecessor. The soundtrack is EVEN better and still so fitting its almost ridiculous.

  • The most beautiful game visually this year. Constantly stunning and really one to experience. It also helps that its one kickass "metroidvania" underneath.

  • The only reason this isn't higher on my list is that I simply haven't had time to play it that much yet. It came out so late, and if I had spent more time with it. I am sure it would have been higher up. Its Yakuza almost perfected, and as one of my favorite series, its a delight.

  • It did what I expected and wanted. It delivered the same thing as the previous game, but more advanced technically.

  • In many ways this game is a massive disappointment, in others its amazing. The gameplay is very rewarding and fun, but the story elements are so thin and there is so much padding to make the game longer. That eventually it just doesn't feel like a Metal Gear Solid game. Even if it is a lot of fun to play.
