Suggestions for the next one:

First you have my permission to use my thread you retweeted (which I can't thank you enough for) or anything from it, and anything else from my gallery here if you'd like (the Photoshops and TNT Promos tags will be most useful).

Next, here are a few amazing pieces of art from Twitter that crossed my feed.

This thread by the ever fantastic Lizzy Dawson (@morehandclaps).

This one from @blakestevenson.

And this great piece from @ayapizza.

No. To be brutally honest, from a completely aesthetic standpoint it looks amateurish. You could pick a basic squarespace template and it would be cleaner and more ergonomic than the current layout.

It's big and blocky, and spaced out in a way that's inconsistent and uncomfortably wide. This seems to be to make the site feel more mobile friendly, but it still looks weirdly spaced out on mobile too; I'd still much rather use the Video Bomb app, which is clean and fast and doesn't have about 8 layers of grey stacked up on top of one another. It feels more like a myspace page than a respected videogames website.

This isn't about fear of change - I've been posting here since day one and I've seen the site evolve multiple times without issue, but a lot of the design choices this time seem rushed and unnecessary. This whole thing feels like a huge step backwards.

My feelings are pretty much this, including and especially the last part. I had the fear of change thing with previous versions of the site. This is different. I really don't want to be negative about the change. Having done web design myself I greatly appreciate the work they've done, but I feel like this is the worst iteration of the site yet. So, I'm sorry, but no, I very much do not like it. The previous version was visually aging very well.

Pretty much all of my issues are visual and not technical. Basically, almost everything is too big. It looks and feels like a mobile site is erroneously being served to my desktop and that just doesn't work. I'm honestly baffled that people think this is good. I've started to wonder how many are primarily on a mobile device when they come here. Admittedly it does look a bit better on my phone, but that's not how I use the site (that was maybe the first time I've ever come to the site on my phone).

To put a little more substance to that, this is what it look when I go to Videos, Podcasts, Community, and Words (not really a fan of this header either). I'm greeted by a giant "thumbnail". I can't even see the title of what it is without scrolling down (for reference, I have a 1920x1080 monitor and I cropped out my browser UI). This is my number one issue with the redesign. The Shows page is only moderately better as the first two slots are actually on the same line and not gigantic. I very much prefer the old grid of thumbnails. It was so much easier to find what I was looking for or to see what I might have missed since I was last on.

The individual video and podcast pages have their own set of problems, but I assume most of them are bug related right now. I do miss having the attached game section though. I also miss the dedicated video search. And a big ol' "F that" to autoplay. At the very least, make it a setting/option somewhere.

I've never used anything other than the dark theme, and I don't have an issue reading anything on it, but the pages, the home page especially, feel flat now. It's just a little too much of the same gray. What happened to the splashes of red, like in the nav-bar or hyperlinks? Quick suggestion for the nav-bar: make the tab highlight red instead of white. This is probably a bug, but the behavior of the tabs are also erratic; often closing when I try to go to an element or staying open when I'm trying to get away. As for the homepage, it's been brought up numerous times, but that top slot needs to be way smaller on the home page. That premium image is also a bit of an eyesore. I also feel there are too many carousels trying to serve me different things, but instead it's mostly the same content because, again, GB isn't Netflix. I liked having the "Latest Stories" feed to see everything that's been posted in one place at a glance. I also liked having the Forum section. I've on many occasions found a thread to look at that I otherwise would have missed.

And finally, the new logo. I don't absolutely hate it, but I very much preferred the original. This new one, as someone else has said either here or in the feedback thread, feels generic. Almost akin to something a Gamebomb.ru like site would use. I feel the original had more personality.

With all of that out of the way, is there anything that I do like? I like seeing what's on Infinite on the home page even though I still have to scroll halfway down (I know it and a lot of things are in the nav-bar, but then what's the point of the home page). The "This Day in GB History" section is a neat little window of nostalgia. And I'm also happy that there still aren't any infinite scrolling pages here (that I've found at least).

Sorry, but i really hate this new layout. I've been a lurker for years and a loyal premium customer for some time, but i had to go to the forums and make my voice heard.

So what do i not like about this? Too much scrolling, oversized video thumbnails and menus over menus. A complete and utter mess. You killed the great old design for a rushed mobile-like design which is confusing and cluttered. The old design was perfect, bc you could access everything without scrolling much. Now to find a show, i have to hover over Videos, then click Shows, then scroll through all these huge Thumbnails. On the old design i could just hover over videos and it was all neatly there. Newsflash: Not everyone likes to see a mobile-like page on his PC.

So i will probably not renew my premium subscription after the 14th. Really disappointed you rushed this out so fast, because it feels like you ripped out the soul of the site and left it like a lifeless husk. Changing your Icon aswell is evidence to that. Killing the past just for the sake of it.

This pretty much echoes my feelings as well.

I know things change and I know you worked hard on it, but, and I'm really sorry, this is the worst iteration of the site, at least visually. The videos, podcast, community, and "words" pages are especially awful. Why are the thumbnails (or full videos it turns out) so huge?

This is what I see when I go to the Videos page. I can't even see the title of the first video without scrolling. I can see this working on a vertically oriented mobile device, but I'm sorry, this just isn't acceptable when using a computer. This is probably the single biggest issue of the redesign I have. Please bring back the smaller grid for the main pages; it was so much easier to navigate.

The home page, as others have said the elements are "big" (seems to be a theme in the criticism). Bugs aside (upcoming times) overall it's ok, although I miss having a section of the forum on there. I'm also not a fan of the new logo, but I at least get it; I just feel the original had more personality.

Overall the site now feels like someone put a mobile version (big and bulky) where a standard web version should be. [Edit] To put it a different way, it now feels like I'm using something like the Youtube app on my computer, which it isn't designed for, instead of the Youtube website.

[Edit] Ugh, and please get rid of autoplay, or at least make it an option.

I keep finding something new, so I'm maybe just going to come back later with a full list of things.

@brunothethird: @the_nubster: Thanks!

And yeah, I kind of had to fake the pixelization. Like I said, I'm not as happy with it; I'm not a pixel artist, though I wish I were.

I actually made this a little over a year ago and never posted it here, but with the return of Blue Bombin' today I figured now's as good a time as any.

So, without further ado, here it is.

I also made a "pixelated" version, but I'm not quite as happy with it.

Full res versions here: Smooth | Pixel

[Edit] Holy crap! It looks like it's official now. Not only did they use it for the promotional spots for today's stream (Sept. 21, 2018 Mega Man 6 - Part 02), but it's now the series art on the video pages (formerly a stock image of Mega Man)!

Vexillatio is third-declension feminine and this is presumably the nominative case so the end result would be 'exquisita vexillatio'. However, 'exquisitus', despite being the etymological root of 'exquisite' does not mean quite the same thing. It is the perfect passive participle of 'exquiro'. Hence, it means something closer to 'the detachment/corps that was sought out/searched for' - which might actually be somewhat appropriate. You could equally use 'cohors' as an alternative to vexillatio, which refers to a detachment of a legion combining 500 men.

If you're looking for a word closer to the English meaning of 'exquisite', you could use something like concinnitās, although that tends to be used more in the context of literary or artistic works.

Incidentally, both 'corps' and 'corpse' derive from the same latin root 'corpus' which simply refers to the body of something - whether it be an animal or a structure or a system or literally a corpse.

I see. Thank you for this break down. I think I'll give it one last version using "exquisita". I like the idea of being close enough, but still getting the job done; seems to fit the series too.

@deactivated-5ab009e6ec980: That's awesome!

@chilibean_3@hasbro dp: Thanks!

@oursin_360: Thanks! I may make a version in English, but the whole idea was to make something like what's in the game, which is all Latin.

@dudeglove: Thank you. Believe me when I say you know more Latin than I do.

Funny enough, I actually had "Vexillatio" in my original. I used several different translation sites each with different results for "corps" (some didn't even have one), which didn't help. Of course the biggest issue with online translators is syntax; so again, thank you for that. Before now I only had one person on Twitter tell me "Ugh, that translation is so wrong" without even a hint as to how to correct it.

I'll see if anyone else pipes in before making a, hopefully, final change. Ah, screw it; I'll do one now. It's a simple enough thing for me to change, I can do another if I need to.

Thank you, @pewpewphil, @voshinova, @csl316!

Hey everyone,

It's been a long time since I've posted, well, anything to the forums, but I thought I'd share this. Here is my interpretation of a logo for The Exquisite Corps if they were a division of XCOM. My Latin is non-existent, so please let me know if my translation is wrong (this is now the third iteration) and how to correct it.

I made two versions, one "holographic" and one "clean", both 1920x1080.

@vinny: Thank you for looking into this, Vinny.

To add another perspective, the East videos have remained at roughly the same volume for me. The West videos, however, suddenly got much louder maybe a month and a half ago; stream archives, like UPF, specifically. Using the default player's volume slider, I can have East videos at around 75-80%, while West videos I have to drop to 10-20%.
