The Lost Metagame Episodes: Jeff vs. Ben!

So it's been over two months since I was a Whiskey Media intern. That's not gonna stop Mr. Domino new Metagame videos from happening! Time travel!

Alright, fine. Here's what's actually going on here: I was going through old files on my computer and found a few unreleased Metagame videos we shot during my last week at Whiskey. This is the final installment of a three-part finale I'm choosing to call Metagame: The Lost Episodes. Hope you guys enjoy it!

By the way, in the time since we first did these videos, a lot has happened in the world of the Metagame. When we last checked in, they had just taken Kickstarter donations from folks who wanted a deck of their own. You can keep up with their updates yourself on their Kickstarter page, but basically, the non-copyright-violating card redesigns have been done for quite some time and the cards themselves are at the printers! They should be done by December, and once that happens, I'll probably make a video or something showing them off for you. Here's a sample of what the new, redesigned cards look like:

As always, you should leave a comment letting us know who you think won the debate and why. Wanna see the rest of the Metagame videos? Check out the playlist right here!

good made up story for burnout, but that's kind of an invalid arguement, by the same token Jeff could've just said the story to Tekken is now the story of Heavy Rain

I would buy a Tekken novel in an airport. That seems like the right time.

I think Tekken fits better, but Ben wins because of his imagination.

Why didn't Ben go with Minecraft? That's Robinson Crusoe with blocks-based graphics! Seriously a novel where a man mysteriously finds himself in this block based world and he proceeds to figure things out, winning the little victories, and dealing with the anguish of his home burning down? C'mon that shit is gold. I as probably many others great pleasure in deliberately paced but triumphant isolation stories where it's man versus the elements with the only tool he has, his intelligence.

Definitely between Burnout and Tekken, dudes throwing dudes into volcanoes wins every time.

The answer is Jeff. It's Jeff every time so far. And at this point, I'm convinced it will ALWAYS be Jeff that wins.

Burnout is set in an alternate universe where Skynet was programmed by a pro racing driver and as a result of that has inherited it's creator's love of cars, racing and crashing. After deeming the human race insignificantly slow and flawed, Skynet quickly began killing them by means of horrific car accidents. However, one man--D.J Atomika--leads the underground resistance as the last hope of mankind. His radio transmissions coming from somewhere in Paradise City, the sentient super-cars hunt for him day and night to put an end to the human race once and for all.

A poor argument on Ben's part. He could have talked about the city and its inhabitants. How do they cope with the constant street racing and crashes? How high are the insurance premiums in Paradise City with all the crashes going on? What kind of city council would allow this? Is there corruption in Paradise City and are the car manufacturers behind all this? Who is DJ Atomica and what has he done with the other Radio hosts? All these questions would make for a great background on the Burnout universe.

Jeff wins. IMO.

Kind of cheating that if you have to INVENT THE STORY. The fucking argument for Burnout is "THERE ARE CARS, MAKE A STORY WHERE THEY ARE DRIVEN."

Tekken may have retarded, silly, ridiculous fiction, it still has fiction.

Jeff takes it for the book I'd rather read, but Ben's argument for "a shell of a game = do what you want, duder" is pretty slick.

I think Jeff would "win" at the metagame against anyone. He can bullshit with the best of them and he knows a fuckton about every game.

Neither Tekken or Burnout would make a great novel. I have to imagine that any of the other cards they had would've been better. I think the subtext behind this round of the meta-game was about Ben choosing the one game he'd heard of and Jeff choosing the dumbest game on purpose because Jeff didn't care.
