"How do you spoil a game as old as RE2" Brad says while sitting next to a person who just told him that he's never played RE2. No offense of course, obviously this video is going to be very spoilery and there's no avoiding that. Was just funny.

I'd be willing to bet a very large amount of people who are going to play this game never played the original. I sure didn't. Like Ben, RE4 was the first Resident Evil game I played.

Which is the one everyone says was really good? Syndicate?

Black Flag is usually the one people point to as the best, mainly because is such a great pirate game.

If you're looking for a really good genuine Assassin's Creed game, I think 2 is the one that people love the most. I remember hearing that Syndicate was decent as well though.

As far as this game goes, I've watched a couple people play it and it's really hard to be interested. Origins had the same issue for me, these games are more and more reaching the point where it's like a boardroom of executives developed them based on what they understand a profitable game to be. But people also loved Origins so I guess maybe that's just me.

Really glad to hear tricks are out. Always thought it was dumb to muddle the game with something that distracts from the actual platforming aspect of it, which is what I personally find enjoyable about Trials.

I also find it weird that people equate Trials with anger and frustration, I found the game relaxing. I'd get entranced with Evolution just practicing courses over and over again to try to shave off seconds. Like sure, Trials can be frustrating sometimes when courses ask you to do things you don't know how to do, but I enjoyed trying to figure out how to get past obstacles that didn't seem possible to get through at first.

I will defend DS2 until my last breath.

I actually couldn't go back to DS1 after playing the second one because the second game feels so much better to play.

@kid_gloves: Man, it's been super weird to see ostensibly liberal writers talking about how Far Cry 5 is just so different because it takes place in America.

From an article on Polygon:

The problem isn’t that Americans are upset that the game is set in here. The problem is that Far Cry 5 treats the country like a cartoon background, rather than a very real and very complex place. The series has done that for other locations, of course, but Far Cry 3 and Far Cry 4 still felt like violence set amid beautiful “exotic” backdrops, with the mildest hint of a timely connection.

I mean, that's some mental gymnastics right there.

Is it really surprising that Polygon has a super bad read? I often find myself shaking my head and saying "what?" to myself after reading most of their opinionated articles, both on video games and not video games. And this is coming from someone who, outside of video games, tends to share the same basic beliefs their writers seem to possess.

I can't think of another video game site I find to be so consistently off the mark as Polygon.

It's a shame to hear the story doesn't really go anywhere, I watched the intro and it was fantastic. If only they were able to maintain that level of tension and creepiness throughout the whole game, I got really strong Outlast 2 vibes from it.

Seems like they traded style for gameplay which is probably a good thing for a video game, but man this just doesn't strike me visually like what i saw of the first one did. Could just be the generation gap as i haven't actually played either.

I thought so too, but after playing it and seeing it in action, I realize that I was entirely wrong. The game is gorgeous on PC, and very easy to run at max settings as well.

@notallama:"I'm so tired, last night was amazing" might be the worst, most cringey RTS unit line I have ever heard.

Wait until you hear pretty much every single thing the Snipers say. The unit quotes in this game definitely straddle the line between endearingly lame and just lame, and more often than not, it dips into latter.

You know I've read a lot of reviews and coverage about this game (because I've had mixed feelings about the series) and Brad is the literally only person to describe the music as "cheesy." And he wonders why their best music selections always goes to a narrow style of music.

GOTY discussions aren't even up yet and I'm already triggered!

That's kind of amusing to hear as someone who hasn't played this game yet but has Blade Xenoblade Chronicles X. That game had some CHEESY ass music. The main battle theme is a perfect example.

Even so I liked the soundtrack for that game, even if "cheesy" is definitely the word that comes to mind for me for it.

As someone who has not played any Destiny until this release, I'm having quite a bit of fun with this game. Maybe that'll change once I finally reach end game, but for now, my only problem with the game is Ikora's flat voice acting. Especially juxtaposed with the fantastic work from Nathan Fillion.
