@joshth: for the record I am having the exact same problem, a huge bummer considering I have to work this weekend and generally save some premium vids to watch when the bosses are away

Gosh Ryan you will be missed, you never met me and I never met you, but somehow I feel like I've lost one of my best friends, I've followed the bombast crew since gamespot like a lot of folks and I have a ton of tournament tvs and on the spots downloaded on my computer, time to reminisce and shed a few tears, I will miss you Ryan Davis

@xyzygy: I know exactly what you are referring to. I think it was Terror From the Deep with XCOM UFO defense included with it.

I was talking with my brother the other day about this very issue. There is absolutely no way that XCOM could come back in its original form, because it layed a groundwork that games have been building on since.
I just cant imagine those mechanics working out (turn based combat, research, upgrade, research, invasion, turn based combat, research, research, research) over and over again. I loved XCOM as a kid and loved how deep you could go in the tech trees. Upgrading your weapons and such, but when you break it down you basically set up research cues, hit the fast forward button, and waited for some aliens to invade. No story, no substance, just a damn good game at its core, that has inspired many aspects of RTS base building even though XCOM has always been turn based.
We figured that the best way to have XCOM is exactly how we have it already, through Steam or keep your old floppys. An iphone port of the 1st two games would be awesome.
And why has everyone left out Terror from the Deep? Enforcer is bad, i agree but Terror is fantastic.

I have had a Zune since the original and there are some pros and cons to the device. I have a 30gig and have a friend with the 80 and both have all the same issues. Maybe they are fixed in the HD but I doubt it.
1. Video from the Zune Software to the Zune is INSANELY slow. Even if the video you are moving over is in a Zune supported format it has to "convert" the video to the format it is already in. This process takes anywhere from 10 mins for a music video to 4 hours or more for movies. I seriously started a movie syncing a movie to my zune around 11pm one night, went to bed and woke up around 7am with it still converting.
2.The $15 a month is a cool offer, but the downside is the zune software randomly not updating the license agreements on your downloaded songs. Nothing sucks worse than to leave to go somewhere and hop in the car expecting to play some music, and the only thing that happens is the Zune goes from song to song to song endlessly until it goes through the entire library and shuts off, never playing any of them. Me and my friend both have delete everything off the zune and re sync which will take hours. My friends 80gig took 14hours to re sync and re license every song. So yea, thats what $15 a month gets you.
3.The Zune software is a resource hog, and very clunky.
4.My Zune will randomly restart which automatically puts the volume down to 9, and if I am in the middle of a podcast, will not save my spot which forces me to try and find it myself.

I really liked the Zune when it first came out and when I saw the Zune HD my initial thought was "Awesome, I want that" but then i quickly changed my mind. The main issue is why would I get a Zune HD????? It takes 4 hours to sync one sub standard definition movie I cant imagine how long an HD one would take. Oh and battery life on video is awful, maybe 2hrs.

" Film critics are useful. Famous critics tend to be intelligent individuals that give insight to the message of the movie, and are great for steering you clear of trashy movies, and finding out about great ones. If you hate film critics, it's only logical to hate video game critics too. "
Personally I don't think so. Games are different from movies, it's all down to inrpertation. If the game is very buggy or very glitchy then I'd like to know this and thats somthing that a review will give me insight to whereas I doubt the summer blockbusters I might go to watch will be badly light or hard to hear (this is the closest parallel to bugs or glitches in a videogame) the enjoyment of movies more down to personal tastes than games are so the only way I'd really trust a movie reviewer was if I followed him so I know what his tastes are compared to mine. Also I don't really know how you can give much of a review about a movie without either being too vauge or spoiling the story whereas with videogames you can explain the combat system and what the user can expect from it without spoiling the game for them. "
See Wolverine, the CG in that movie is more broken than most bugs in a video game. I also believe that they are just as legit as video game reviews, taste definately comes in to play with video games (someone who oddly loves dynasty warriors would review the game higher than everyone else) but the one thing that separates the 2 mediums is control over the reviewer. Most sites wouldnt put a final fantasy hater on a video game, where film critics seem to review everything. The biggest example of this is Rotten Tomatoes, where negative reviewers will state their loathe for an actor/director/franchise. First negative review I saw for Dark Knight on RT was someone who hated Batman and Christopher Nolan. Also look at horror movies, apparently no critic likes them.
In closing, you have to pay more attention to text in movie reviews, and dive deeper into a reviewers trend to truly trust the review, but isnt that what video game reviewers hope for too?

I am wondering how this will affect Starcraft 2's penetration into the Korean market. With Starcraft being a spectacle, and the televised Starcraft Superbowls of what I am assuming are LAN connected matches between two pro starcraft players, it seems that you would not see Starcraft 2 at all on the mainstage of these events due to lack of optimal pvp connection.

yea, it has to be fake, but how do you manage to slam your body into a matress, go under a blanket and come out in boxers, randomly go in and out of your closet, stick a remote up your butt, hit yourself in the head with a shoe, and scream like a raptor for 2 minutes without laughing once.
