Video games were bad this year. Last of Us, Ni no Kuni, and GTA5 are probably good games, but I never got around to them. Well GTA games are bad (see last year's list for the best GTA game ever made) so that is probably not good. The 3DS is the best game system ever, apparently.
Best game by a mile this year. Like, way better than anything else on this list by a crapload. Fire Emblem is an inherently good series, and this is a top-tier entry on all levels.
A really good game that plays like garbage but looks cool and has a sick ending.
The best of Pokemon and those games are all good.
The Hotline Miami of 2013: a cool little game that is better than 95% of the trash that came out this year and cost one millionth of the money to make. Be ashamed, publishers!
A very good MMO born from a very very bad MMO. This game has a good storyline, but the real interesting narrative is how SE managed to take one of the worst games ever and make it good. Oscar worthy.
This is a very good MegaTen game and even bad MegaTen games are better than most stuff. This game oozes atmosphere and isn't a chore to play like most mainline SMT games. Check it out~!
This got a PC port so it counts, ok?? You know the year is bad when it takes PC ports of questionable games just to fill it out.
The most fun you will ever have if you can force someone else to play it. I do not recommend playing this game yourself since it is a miserable experience, but watching some other idiot slog through it is highly entertaining from a schadenfreude sense. The actual goings-on of the game are also a sight to behold. Francis York Morgan is one of Video Gaming's most memorable leading men.
These games are cool and fun. The appeal of this series has always been tearing down some nefarious criminal's BS lies and this entry does that in spades. Also, this game looks freaking amazing.
A fun thing that trades on subverting the player's expectations from a video game.
