@zirilius: You know, I was just thinking about how none of the books I listed were from non-human perspectives, or at least not from anything human-ish enough (Astartes, Chaos, the occasional High Elf chapter in Gotrek & Felix, etc). I bet the Eldar stuff could be cool. Maybe even Ork stuff, if there is any (and if it's done well).

@jesus_phish : I'll look into those, too. And if you like Necron stuff, Ciaphas Cain has a few run-ins with them (or 1 encounter at the very least. It's been like 7 years), if you haven't read those.

Hey Bomb Squad,

I used to be WAY into those novels but I'm putting together a Christmas list and have been thinking about getting back into some good, schlocky WH lore. It's been a while since I last read any of them, so I'm wondering if there have been any standouts in the last few years.

Stuff I have already read:

  • The Eisenhorn books
  • The Ravenor books
  • Most of(?) the Ciaphas Cain books
  • A bunch of Horus Heresy books, up to roughly where they stopped being about the Heresy itself and started being just "stuff that happened in that time period"
  • The first few Gotrek and Felix books
  • Some WHFB omnibus about the Vampire Counts (the Carsteins or something?)
  • The Blackhearts omnibus

Right now I'm halfway through the second Gaunt's Ghosts book (Ghostmaker), but I'd be open to switching to something else after finishing it. I think I also have a copy of Nagash the Sorcerer (a collection of the 3 Nagash books) around here somewhere that I still need to get to, if I can find it.

Anything good lately? Or has The Black Library gone downhill along with (from what I've heard) the REST of Games Workshop?

@bbalpert: Wasn't thinking that when I wrote it.. but now I am. If that does happen, remember you started me down the road.

Depending on how that goes, either you're welcome or I'm sorry.

I don't know anything about cameras, but I figured I'd just get this out of the way now so it won't derail the topic later on. It'd come up sooner or later, anyway.

"...and stuff" is totally sex, right?

And now, back to the actual camera technology stuff.

Undertale

No, not really, but I am still pleasantly surprised at how much Dan seemed to enjoy the game. That's enough for me.

@oursin_360: I was going to install the performance fix but something about the ENB stuff seemed weird to me. I can't put my finger on it, but the whole process of installing that stuff seemed... unsafe? I don't know, I'm probably just being paranoid for not wanting to install stuff from a Russian website.

As for the quiet generators and turrets, does anyone know if there's a good mod for quiet SETTLERS? Every time I go back to Sanctuary to do some crafting, Marcy and Jun are always there making snide and mopey (respectively) comments at me.

Haven't really messed around with Fallout 4 yet, but 3 and New Vegas were incredibly easy to do Unarmed combat with, I'd imagine Melee isn't too different. The perk combinations you can get make things super broken, especially when you get 1 every level up in 3 and 4. You just need to stick to Strength and Endurance, with a bit of Luck for better criticals. Always use Bloody Mess. Cazadors in New Vegas were the only real assholes, since the poison would fuck you up, no idea if there's anything like that in FO4.

I basically played all of Fallout 3 with a Power Fist, a shotgun, some mines, and a Fat Man for kicks.

Danny O'Dwyer (relatively) recently did a playthrough of FO3 on his YouTube/Twitch channel where he used guns* or armor. My understanding is that it worked a lot better than he expected it to. For one thing, he always had a TON of caps on hand for healing items since he could sell all of the armor, ammo, and weapons he came across.

*The run was called "Naked and Gunless" so I assume he may have used melee weapons.

I'm assuming this is a bug, but water purifiers in your settlement will not generate and store excess purified water in your workshop if you have any stored there already.

I wanted to mention it because I've seen a TON of guides recommending that people build water purifiers to sell off excess water and even MORE forum topics/Reddit posts asking "why do I still have only 5 purified water in my workshop storage?", but maybe only 2 cases where someone brought this bug up.

I had 9 water purifiers running (with maybe 13 settlers) and the stock of 12 purified waters in my workshop's storage didn't change in about 7 hours of playing. I took those 12 waters out of storage, and maybe 20 minutes later I found 40+ units of purified water in my workshop.

I built a little trunk/chest (in the furniture section of the build menu) to keep my water from now on, to get around this. Hopefully stuff stored in player built storage is safe from raiders/settlers/game engine cleanup processes. I don't know for sure, though.

*edit: This MIGHT not be the case if you have supply lines running between settlements. The fact that I have seen so few mentions of this weird workshop caveat leads me to suspect that there might be some other factor (such as supply lines) that also deals with this bug*

I can't think of any games that I feel like I SHOULD like, but I do have a prime example of the opposite: Asura's Wrath. It's 70% QTEs and 30% bad action sequences with one of the most shameless cases of a $60 game holding back CRITICAL content (the ENDING of the game) as paid DLC.

But goddammit if I don't loooove that game's style.

The only criteria is that the character must have been introduced in 2015...

Personally, I'd say:

  • Undertale: Alphys, Sans, Papyrus, Undyne, and Flowey.

I don't know if Flowey would count, then. He was in the Undertale demo that came out in 2013. The none of those other characters were in it though (the demo showed from the start of the game up to you leaving the ruins)
