Haha, this was sarcastic gold. Yathzee ftw, he may exaggerate from time to time, but in general I find his anti-hype scepticism to be very honest and refreshing. And don't forget the cheap laughs!
The framerate dips are there, so is the pop-in, the volume inconsistencies, the Mako controls, hell I'm not even that big on the core gameplay.
But the story and immersion, they're what keeps me playing. The empty planets aren't that dull to me because I love that feeling of being on some uninhabited world, seeing the system's other planets alligned in each unique skyline, awesome.
I just picked up a SE Fightstick as well because I've been waiting for months for my TE to arrive (did they even ship the second batch yet?). Just played it for a few hours today, and so far the stick and buttons feel pretty damn responsive, it's sweet. I've still got to get a bit used to it though, my chains, links, ultras and supers come out fine but somehow regular hadokens and shoryukens are giving me trouble, though I blame that on the square gate. Are they really that likely to break?
I always wanted one for MGS4 and LBP, but now with InFamous turning out so great and the Project Trico trailer, I can finally justify the purchase. Fat Princess also looks awesome, so I'm going to scrape some money together somehow and get one as soon as I can. And for those naysayers, there's probably lots more great games coming. The library may be a bit thin now but Sony is in it for the long run, y'know.
You should check out Anamanaguchi, you'd fall in love with it instantly. It's basically a combination of live instruments (2 guitars, bass and drums) and 8-bit sampling, heavily inspired in composition by the NES action games. It always makes me think of Mega Man on steroids. Seriously some of the best 8-bit shit out there. Hit me up with a PM if you want me to hook you up with some tracks.
