Resurrecting this thread because a new but similar problem has arisen: Every big game this year so far seems to be a dud. The Order, Dying Light, The Crew, Battlefield Hardline, Evolve, etc. Is it possible that instead of broken games, nonstop mediocrity will cripple the industry?

I've seen people talking about the game industry possibly crashing again like it did in the mid-80s time and time again, but have shrugged that idea off for years due to how continually well things have been going for the modern industry. But over the past week, I'm starting to worry that, because it seems almost impossible now to launch a AAA title without loads of glitches and bugs (AC Unity, Driveclub, Sonic, LittleBigPlanet) that make people hate them, gamers are going to turn on the industry and stop buying games, publishers won't learn to not rush products, and everything will come crashing down. Does anyone have the same worry?

I didnt have an issue with him posting the article.

I just find it ridiculous that a large successful and established studio would use kickstarter. Especially one that seems to be playstation exclusive....Come on...

Sony owns the rights to the Amplitude IP, and no major studio is going to sink much money into a music game after the Guitar Hero/Rock Band rise and fall. It's ridiculous to call any of this ridiculous. Then again, that's what I expect from the GB community.

I doubt many people played it, but the XBLA Double Dragon remake (Not Neon, which was okay) called Wander of the Dragons was a big steaming pile.

This review sums it up pretty well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hSLyE1jktM

Echoing that I'm devastated just like everyone else. You guys have every right to just take some time off from the site for a little while and recover from this.

Pouring one out for you, Ryan.

OP is weirdly quiet, huh?

I guess I'll break that silence if that's what you're hinting at wanting.

I don't know. I was feeling completely alone in my view that the show has lost its footing and become a dreary slog to listen to. I was just seeing if I wasn't going crazy or something. Maybe I have.

I fell in love with the Bombcast and subscribed and listened to every episode starting back in its inception in 2007, but as of two months ago, the show's become so insufferable that I had to stop listening completely. It seems really obvious to me that the guys just don't enjoy games any more, which makes for a depressing and unenjoyable listen. Even the little things that annoyed me a bit, like Jeff's constant "Ugh"s and mouth fart noises, seem to pop up more and more.

When I posted stuff about this before, the main response I got was that they were just bored with the current generation of games, and that the new generation of consoles would be what they need. Guess what? If the comments for each podcast (Which I still read) are any indication, they're already taking a big shit on consoles that aren't out yet. I can deal with guys who are jaded to a point, but by now, I'm convinced these guys should maybe consider getting jobs outside of games if they can't find anything to enjoy about them any more.

The PS2 is tied with the SNES as my all-time favorite console. So many fun and imaginative games were on that system. I just wish my PS3 Slim could play PS2 discs, as I gave the PS2 to my brother when he moved and now miss it dearly.

They can improve pretty much everything at this point. The Bombcast used to be my favorite gaming podcast, but this year it's gone to shit.

Want to hear boring tangents about raising a baby? How about endless mouth fart noises and awkward pauses? How about giving a game five stars and yet only focusing on nitpicky issues for an hour? Face it. It's terrible now.
