On my first quest for the Dark Brotherhood - the one with 3 contracts - one of them is by a waterfall, sleeping in a tent. I went up, and "sneak attacked" him with my axe. Result: I hit him through the earth... on the positive note, no body - no crime.

Just hope he did not have some kind of additional quest trigger on his body I missed due to this.

No you're good if he's dead.  I went Emperor Palpatine on him with double shock.

27.3 hours according to Steam, which is usually off by at least a bit, as it says I've played Fallout 3 for 15 hours when the save file says I've played for 40.. I restarted though so I'm only 10 hours into my current file and around level 10.

I have 5 written assignments due in the next week or two (Including an 8 page essay and a 5 page essay) so I probably won't get to play again until around the 28th of November, the day I hand the last of the assignments in.  Chances are I'll probably try to squeeze in a bit of time to play Skyrim, but normally when I have lots due I only play SC2 because it isn't a huge timesink (the average game is 10-20 minutes) and I can sneak in a game here and there, where with Skyrim I'll accidentally marathon it for 10 hours without realizing it, which is what I did on Saturday and Friday. I played from noon until 2AM on Saturday with only a supper break and one hour long break to workout because my back was getting stiff from sitting in one place for so long. On Friday I played from 11AM to 4PM, the cable guy came over to fix something for an hour so I stopped then. Then played from 6PM until 5AM(!).

Now I get to fix my sleep pattern again because I stayed up until 3-4AM minimum for 3 days in a row (I stayed up for launch and played until 3AM as well).  It's worth it though.

I started as Khajiit, but completely screwed myself over by levelling up to around level 17 purely with non-combat skill and then couldn't actually kill anyone so I restarted as a Redguard, but didn't like the melee aspect as much so restarted again as a High Elf mage and am having tons of fun.

Nvidia = no issues and working FXAA for FREE!

ATI = driver BS which has led to some people crashing at startup or not having the game run at all.

I'm ATI and have had no problems.

Yeah I read this in another thread and it's confusing me because I've played it issue free for 14 hours. The only thing I've noticed is lower res textures on cabinets once in a while but that will easily be fixed with a patch. Other than that, smooth sailing for me.

Smokey the Bear says: Remember kids, the vast majority of issues are from not having up to date drivers. Make sure your stuff is up to date. If you have ATI/AMD, Steam can check for you and update for you. Just click on Steam in the top left corner and click update AMD video drivers and it will check for you. And remember... Only YOU Can Prevent Forest Fires.

I love that people are still confused about the whole 8800 naming/RAM/power debacle.

So...I'm going to ask a weird question. I recently replaced my 9600GT with a Radeon 6950. If I were to play Skyrim...and if it were not patched to work with ATi stuff better...would I be better off putting the 9600 back in?

I have a 6950 and have had absolutely no problems running it on ultra. I don't know what is causing people trouble, it's worked fine and smooth for me the 14 hours I've played...

I guess all I can say is try it first with the 6950? This seems odd as I have had no issues whatsoever and played it within 5 minutes of it being unlocked on Steam (thus not patched)...

I need 1-8 (why doesn't 9 work?) so keyboard and mouse. I imagine the menu system would be better with a gamepad though.

You can really substitute any moba community.

Just about any online game community, really...

The Starcraft community isn't too bad if you avoid the Battlenet forums. There'll always be the tryhard types but most of the people are reasonable. I get very little trash talking in the games I play. Most players will admit that they suck and are somewhat humble. I imagine it might be many magnitudes worse in the lower leagues though.

Edit: and yes, from my limited experiences, the MOBA communities look awful. Watching streams of SC2 players playing League of Legends, you see tons of insults thrown about and no one actually knowing what they are supposed to do.

You just described every Bethesda game made in the last 5 years at least. Even a minute or two of research would have told you most of your points. Their games are janky, but once you get past that they become insanely immersive experiences where you will spend many hours playing them (For example, on Oblivion I put in over 300 hours on my first profile over a period of 6 months because I loved exploring the game world. The same will likely occur in Skyrim).  I've already played 16 hours and I've only done one main questline mission past the tutorial (I've done what I always do. Get in Thieves Guild, rob EVERYONE, and then do everything else with an insane amount of money.)  Not everyone likes TES games, they require a certain amount of patience but they are quite rewarding if you can get over the inherent issues in them. Heck, Brad's headline in his review says basically that.

I ran into him last night when I was heading to Whiterun. I tried killing him but it didn't work.  He talked about his father and father's father and then said he had nothing to say to me after I tried to kill him.
