@ScudFTW:@Legend: If it's any consolation (no, it's not, I know) we can in future completely bypass Steam by creating a shortcut to the exe located in our steamapps\common\star trek online folder. Patching is done through the launcher after all, it's what I was using at first when I was getting the 'Unable to authenticate' message from the launcher. I only tried to launch through steam to see if I'd have better luck with that, turns out it was worse luck.
@PhatSeeJay: Well I'm not there because I launched through Steam, there's a problem with that it seems. Deletes and redownloads the client...... yeah...... 10GB...... looks like I'll be a while ;(
@zenith16: If your beta code was from your preorder purchase and not one of the freebie codes given out on various sites, then that should be your preorder code that'll give you access to the head start. All preorders, digital and hard copies, get access to it afaik. Can't hurt to try I guess. It's certainly nothing to do with the subscriptions.
I'm stuck on unable to authenticate message in launcher too. Head start for some, false start for others. I have lots of beer to keep me company for the moment though so it's all good :p
" I love how they call filling in the rest of live content "Updates" like they are extra bonuses. "
Agreed. My guess is they're just trying to save some face with that one, although they have said since beta that they'd be working on Klingon content for release. I just hope there's enough content in there and not just some fleet actions and short, boring exploration missions, Klingons don't explore, they conquer!

Please oh please oh please let it be the John Delancie Q. "
I'd dearly love some voice work to go with that, I'll not be getting my hopes up though it would be fantastic.
Just because we're about to launch Star Trek Online doesn't mean we don't have some great updates ready for you in the coming weeks. From endgame raid Episodes, to more PvP maps, to more Klingon content, no matter what you love about STO we've got something you'll love even more. Here's a taste what we have planned over the next two months. And just in case you were wondering, everything listed here is free!
The Hive Mind Is Everywhere

UPDATE: I just read on Steam forum there's a patch out for headstart, I lauched my beta client and sure enough, it patched up
