Favorite games of all time
Because everyone needs to have it, this is an incomplete list of the games that I will probably remember most, and why they made such an impact. Bear in mind that these are not in any particular order. Without further ado!

This game took everything I liked about Ocarina of Time, and added a whole lot more. It was darker, creepier, and sadder than its predecessor. It really gave you the sense that you were playing through a doomed world, giving you the chance to follow many characters as they went through their daily routines, slowly becoming more aware of the moon looming on the horizon. Furthermore, it had a whole lot of memorable sidequests and characters, and some interesting new mechanics. It took me a few years to really grow to appreciate it, but it's since become my favorite Zelda game and one of my favorite games period.
I've never played a Shin Megami Tensei game I haven't liked, but my first was Persona 4, and probably still my favorite. The characters are fantastic and some of the easiest to relate to I've ever seen in a game. The gameplay is addictive, the storyline is intriguing, if a little rough in spots, and it is honest to god hilarious! A contender for one of my favorite games of all time.
It's hard to say anything about this that hasn't already been said. A completely unique game, it is an example of minimalist storytelling at its finest. It manages to craft such an amazing narrative despite the fact that there is little to no actual story content at all. Almost everything is implied. On top of that, the game has incredible scope and breathtaking visuals. Truly amazing.
Objectively it's a little hard to recommend the game, as the visuals and gameplay are both rather outdated, and many people report lots of bugs (though I didn't really encounter any). However, what makes this game great is a completely unique setting, a mash up of Tolkien-esque fantasy and steampunk. It does an amazing job of making it feel like a real world, even giving you newspapers that you can buy on the street. The storyline is fun and I always like turn based RPGs. Plus one of the more addictive crafting systems.
I had a debate with myself on whether or not this entry should be Diablo or Diablo II, and in the end the former won out probably due to sheer nostalgia value. In addition, I think the first game was stronger on atmosphere. It was kinda a horror game in addition to being a medieval fantasy dungeon crawler. The sequel had more content, and had significantly more polished gameplay, but I'll have to give this one to the original.
Probably still my favorite of the Metal Gear franchise. The characters are great and I love the atmosphere. Plus, I love the survival mechanics. Also, I had forgotten how funny the game could be until I replayed it recently. I totally should have made more codec calls the first time around.
It's been a long time since I've had an experience as obtuse and weird as the Souls games, and in a weird way it was refreshing. Game mechanics, atmosphere, level design, and story all work hand in hand in a way that is singularly uncommon in games.
Obsidian made so many improvements it's not even funny. My view of Fallout 3 has dimmed over the years, but Obsidian made smart changes to the RPG systems, and proved why they are one of the best in the business as far as writing and story go. Add in the DLC expansions and Josh Sawyer's mod, and it's a game that I keep coming back to.
