Biggie: Best of 2009
It's been an incredible year for games, which makes ranking the best games of the year extremely difficult.

List items

  • Batman was just an incredible experience, the game just hit all the right notes. The pacing was superb mixing up exportation, stealth action and brawling, you never did one activity for too long, I just enjoyed every minute I spent in the world of Arkham. Batman has set a new bar for comic based videogames, heck for videogames in general.

  • 80 hours in and I still want more. Simple, mindless and tones of fun. Co-op goodness at its finest.

  • Who knew that death could be so much fun. This game takes game mechanics from the 90s and integrates them with modern gaming technology. While it is easy to say this game is not for everybody, the whole multilayer system is something that every gamer should experience.

  • Uncharted brings gaming closer than ever to the level of production associated with movies. The graphic, animation and voice acting are all top notch. Unfortunately, this is also detrimental to the game, by raising the production bar anything that reminds you that it is still just a game (repeated deaths, unclear objectives) is quite jarring.

  • Hey Ezio we made your game better than the first one! Thank Ubi Montreal.

  • DoW II is one heck of an action RTS, the game dispensed with many of the tropes associated with the rts genre and offed players balls to walls action in its place, wrapped up in the teenage boyhood fantasy land of Warhammer 40K.

  • This game was my multiplayer game of choice for a good three months this year. The game offered a streamlined multiplayer competitive rts. The only thing that really held this game back was the poor implementation of the network code and a lack of structure for competitive clan/league play.

  • Redefining the expectations for downloadable game Shadow Complex, offered a well crafted metroidvania experience. A must play for everyone with an Xbox 360.

  • Have only put 8 hours into this game so I have not bared witness to the greatness that is Dragon Age, but I know when I get to finish this game, I will under stand why Bioware is one of the best.

  • Sure their may have been better games this year, but I had hella fun playing this coop with my buddies.
