I used to love ROTT. There was a level with a really really long corridor (not the canyon chase at the end) and I used to love using the "firewall" weapon along with the missile cam cheat to watch what seemed like hundreds of enemies gib!
Also, the final boss (4 giant heads that quickly slide around the floor) really used to creep me out. :(
You can hate the MS policies all you want, but the fact is, it's a policy that has always existed for XBLA releases. Polytron would've/should've been aware of it. But that's really so beyond the point it's not even worth mentioning.
The game fucks up the save file. Microsoft doesn't fuck up the save file. The game fucks up the save file. This is Polytrons fault, simple as. This isn't an "oh shit, Gomez done got stuck up a tree! Better restart..." it's "I can no longer play this game".
Seems fair enough to me. it wasn't just "you guys don't know what you're asking for" it was "you don't know what you are asking for because......and this why we can't do it, even though we have tried for years"
It was all like "Yeah, all the fields are required" and I was all like "Mate, they are all filled in" and it was all like "seriously, fill all the fields in" and I was like
I imagine there must be quite a few people on this site who work at Game/Gamestation. Not that they are definitely shutting everything down, but I wish you good luck with whatever happens anyway!
As for the difference between Game and Gamestation, to me it always seemed like Gamestation was slightly cheaper, was generally less tidy, the store wasn't lit as well and had a tendency to smell worse than Game (just me? Ok). I'm not kidding though, this appeared to be the same at Dover, Canterbury and Cambridge
I'm just worried that I've heard Vinny drop the C-bomb for the last time.
I'm still sceptical of this, but at the end of the day Jeff has gone through exactly what it is a lot of you are worried about before. I trust his judgement in the matter. And if it all goes tits up, I'm ready to subscribe to an independent project again.
It's a double bluff. GameSpot think they're gonna get their man back. They'll be standing in front of Jeff with a contract. Jeff will look back at his friends at Giantbomb with an "I'm sorry" face before turning back to the contract, holding a pen to paper before saying "Yeah, well sign THIS!" *explosion* Then some other things will happen.
