@gunslingerNZ:  For me the Connect button stays grayed out until I have entered the battle.net ID properly. Remember, it has to be a email now. It seems to activate the connect button once you enter at least a "@" and a "." , so basic email verification. If you still use the old format Battle.Net ID , ( just a name, not a email ) go to battle.net and follow the proceedures to update to a email battle.net ID.

@gunslingerNZ:  I'm in germany. It's 3:22 AM here, I was able to install and play at 10:20 PM my time. Servers have been up here for a while now, over 1000 open games on Battle.Net for me.  And yeah, you can play just fine without the disc. Once you install it, you don't need the disc anymore ( and technically you don't even need it to install the game as you can download the client from the website ). :)

@KaosAngel:  Not sure if that is a regional difference or not, but I had no Gift Cards inside the CE box ( outside of the game case ). Within the Game Box i had 2 WoW trial cards and 2 SC2 Trial Cards.

@Pinworm45:  This was not the case for me.  In my Game Case, I have 1 key. That key added Starcraft 2 to my Battle.NET and gave my WoW accounts the pets. It did not give me the Starcraft Anthology. It might differ in region ( Germany here ). My recommendation is that you check and if it doesn't get added - pop in the stick, start the installer, copy the Key and add it to Battle.NET manually - just to make sure. ( Though I am sure that most of the people here already had a SC1 copy before.. ).

This actually works out fairly well, as you can give your SC1 CD Key to someone else, should you already own a SC1 CD Key. Might be helpful in getting friends in on the SC craze. :)

@Juvarial:  I would but it seems that, unlike WoW, it does not keep a backup of the patch .exe file. I only have the extracted files which are about 100 mb, and the game would probably not recognize those.. so I don't think I can help ;x Sorry. I even checked the download logs and patch logs, but they don't reveal the address or filename.

The patch is 41 MB and took me 50 minutes to 1 hour to download due to really, really slammed servers. I had a texture problem on the first map, so I assume there will be more patches in the very near future.

@infamous021:  No. I installed with a physical copy and the game boots up fine without the disk in the drive. The disk is 7 GB big while the HD installation takes 14 GB which leads me to believe that all the content is copied over to the HD in its entirety.

@NotSoSneakyGuy:  That might be true. I don't know for sure as I only have 1 copy of the game. The character name seems to be fairly tied into the whole system. Ah well, I'm sure we will find out soon.

@KaosAngel:  No Idea. I'd figure that you'd be hosed if you did that. Though you might be able to call up blizzard support to get a replacement.

Oh also, I live in europe and had the CE Preordered via Amazon. They broke the street date and I got my copy on saturday already. Was unable to install it until 10:20 PM my time ( GMT +1 - around 3 hours ago. )

There is a release day patch that is mandatory. The download servers, were slammed even though very few people had their copies already. The patch is 41 MB, it took me about 1 hour to download it ( It was jumping from 3 kilobyte / sec to 20 kilobyte / sec ). So don't get too excited about playing right away.. as you will be disappointed.

When you launch the installer and the promt to enter the CD-Key comes up, it already has your unique CD key pre-inserted.

I simply copy and pasted it from there and it worked to add Starcraft anthology to my Battle.Net account.

First thing the game asks you to do after booting it up and signing into Battle.Net is to enter a unique character name which seems to be the name used in MP, so yes, you can have a character name like "StarcraftDude" given that it is not taken already.
