Companions will fall down when their health is almost down, after the fight they will get back up. Only by you delivering the lethal blow will they die for good, Or at least that's what the Strat Gulde says.

In Skyrim, what you use or do adds to their specific skills and all skills add to your leveling up. No more primary or secondary skills, all skills are primary, thus adding to you leveling up.

Yes I do not like spiders, at all. I do understand they are important to the circle of life but so help me if they touch me...

If you can come near maxing this out on a rig then I'll always say PC the hell outta it.
