Just installed it from my CD copy, installed the 1.05 patch, installed the fan sound patch and a no cd crack for good measure. runs like a champ.

hack n slash usually refers to loot-driven diablo clones. I don't blame them for coming up with a new way to describe what I usually refer to as Ninja Gaiden clones. Third Person Brawler would have been ok, but implies a focus on hand-to-hand fighting, ala Arkham Asylum. Character action game as a catchall for games like AA as well as games that follow in the DMC or Ninja Gaiden tradition seems as good as anything else to me.

I was thinking the same thing reading through the first couple pages of this thread. Tis a shame; I really enjoyed it. But different strokes for different folks. I just don't see the need for the delayed antagonism of the game. Or for that matter, the delayed tweet about how Tiny Tina is somehow racist. Hardly seems like the opportune time to call out such a thing when the games been out for how long now?

Yeah, I have no idea why GB seems to have turned on that game so much ... maybe because Jeff didn't like it? They did a great job imho and all the DLC was fun to play. Game doesn't deserve this.

To be fair, Borderlands was devisive, too. All Gearbox cares about is the sales numbers.

Shame. Sacco used to host the WoW Insider show (maybe he still does?) when I used to listen that and I found him to be pretty engaging. Having not played BL2, I assume based on comments that Tiny Tina is a short, female version of Fred Durst (otherwise known as the most offensive white person to ever actively use urban lingo). Sorry, but as others said, that's not racist. I know white people that talk like that and yes, they annoy the piss out of me. They don't do it to be racist, they do it because they think it makes them sound cool.

Moral - this is a really stupid thing to start a crusade over. Even if it wasn't, if you aren't black, it's not your fight to start. If the racism/bigotry isn't directed at you and the people the racism/bigotry is directed at aren't bitching, then shut the fuck up (you hear me, white knighters??). There's a good chance that they aren't yelling about it, because they just don't give a shit.

Here's the thing about rape; if it already bothers you (i.e. you're a decent human being), then you gain nothing from seeing it in a movie or game. The reason I don't like seeing it in movies or books is it's not a complex issue, which means there's not actually anything to explore. Rape is the most awful, terrible thing you can do to a person without killing them. Mind you, when I say "see it", I mean Irreversible "see it". I am perfectly fine with using it as a plot device for your story, but the rape doesn't need to be shown for a decent human being to be bothered by it. Even then, 9 times out of 10, rape is used in an overly contrived manner to either give the female character a reason for revenge or to justify a male character seeking revenge on her behalf. When you're talking about rape, there aren't layers to explore, there aren't "degrees" of rape. Even the least violent incidence of rape is still probably going to be the most awful thing that person will ever experience.

I am not saying "it shouldn't be done" in a censorship kind of tone. I am saying it doesn't belong in 99% of the video games that come out. It's not needed in Tomb Raider and the only way I could ever see it working is in a game like Walking Dead which is mostly interactive storytelling to begin with. While we're at it, add child molestation to the list of things I hope I never encounter when I sit down to play a video game.

pretty much. I have a PS3 in my living room and I still bought a second Roku for my Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Video watching, because I like the interface way better.

I've only played bits, but Infamous seemed like it was almost the sequel to Crackdown that I wanted as opposed to Crackdown 2, which was utter shit.
