PAX Prime 2014: Note Cards in a Hat
You can now filter search results with text. Example: "person: john" will search only person pages for "john".
It's got its share of holdover problems, but Madden NFL 15 at least represents a positive step forward for this series.
They may not make games like this anymore, but maybe they should. Larian's latest CRPG is a deeply satisfying turn-based adventure that rewards players with patience.
Diablo III is a great game that, despite its mouse-and-keyboard roots, adapts to consoles surprisingly well.
@tomtomthepirate: Great post, that's all I wanted to say.
Remakes of point and clicks make's no sense to me. Do it like they did Monkey Island, update it with some new graphics and make it run on modern computer's without emulators. So that the people who like the original will get a simple way to re-play it, and those who are new will get a up to date looking experience. Don't remake it, it's still the same game. A remake with any serious changes will only tick fans off.
I wish Blizzard would stop mutilating their own lore. They are entering Lucas territory right now. The story of Durotan, fall of the Orcs and continuously the sacking of Stormwind was pretty freaking good. Not to mention that the whole freaking Warcraft lore is hinged on this one pivotal point, the creation of the green orcs, then the opening of the dark portal after they drunk the blood. How did Hellscream go trough the dark portal to a time when it wasn't even open? How will they open it now that the Burning Legion's influence is broken? Is necromancy even a class anymore? Where the fuck is Doomhammer?
But what I really don't get is that the orcs were mostly hunter's and shamans. Living peacefully with nature. The point was that they wouldn't have done what they did if not for the demon blood. That's their whole story, they where corrupted, fell from grace, murdered and plundered their way through Azeroth and sacking Stormwind. Marching on Lordaeron, killing Lothar, winning back their honor after killing Mannoroth in WarCraft 3.
My brain hurts, I cant think about this anymore. Guess it was inevitable that as with all good video-game lore, it will get mutilated sooner or later.
I know these videos are called "Unfinished", but I would like the GB crew to read up more on the basics of the product that they are showing. I am not talking in depth game mechanics and what the dev team had for lunch that day. But for example, games that actually have a set price they should know said price. It's not like it's hard to notice/find either. It's on the store on the homepage. It will be €40 when it is out of beta. It's a small gripe I know, but I get this intense YouTube feeling from videos such as these. I don't know, I guess I just expected a more informed and informative video feature from GB. At least I know GB haven't been payed by the Dev's/Publishers to play these games as is becoming the norm on YouTube. And therefore can critique it properly. As much as you can critique a game that's not finished. Maybe it's the nature of making content about unfinished or Early Access games, you can't really critique it. Not to sure about this Unfinished Feature yet, hope it's good for GB though, but it's been rubbing me the wrong way thus far.
There is life on the planet! I call false advertisement!
Legends is still my favorite sim, probably because it was the one that got me into racing sim's for real. Knowing that that team is a part of this makes me really excited. It looks gorgeous(it even made me use a word I never use!) and the pedigree is there. This will be one to look out for, even if you just have a passing interest in Racing. Like me, back when I picked up Legends and got hooked.
Is this the start of Microsoft realizing that all the awesome voice stuff, tv stuff and I don't know what else on the XboxOne is totally useless in most of Europe, and are throwing us a bone. "This game is going to be shown at Gamescom guys! Fuck yeah Europe! Please buy the XboxOne."
Probably not, but that is a serious issue that I hear no one talking about. Is the EU market really that small? I thought that part of the reason the PS 3 caught up as much as it did was because it did so well in Europe. Think about how useless you feel the Kinect is, then remove the TV integration and put the voice recognition back six years, you can start to imagine how useless that thing is over here.
Anyway, game looks cool. I wish Remedy never got tangled up in the exclusive publishing business.
@brad It's all about the VRAM usage in Watch Dogs. I play with a GTX 770 2gb gpu. And in the texture settings it will tell you that you need 2gb for high and 3gb for Ultra. I have it on High, so that should work well with my gpu. GPU-Z tells me that I am using all the VRAM I have. The issue is that Watch Dogs doesn't buffer this correctly. I have a good framerate most of the time, then sometimes it slows down to singe digit fps for a couple of seconds due to overloading the VRAM. I have everything else sett to the highest setting, because nothing I have done to the options lower the VRAM usage even though it should. Which lead me to believe that it's an issue with the game overloading the VRAM no matter what you do.
I do feel like I am lucky though. This happens so rarely in my case that the game is totally enjoyable. Since I didn't play Saint's Row 4 or GTA 5 yet, it's quite fun to be back in a open world like those again, and boy is it nice looking.
Found it unfair that they where talking about how videogames are not evolving because of how Wolfenstein is. It's a pulpy almost grindhouse-ish game, and that's what it was meant to be. You go to that kind of game for that kind of gameplay and visceral feel. It's like going to watch Machete and complaining about how movies are just gore and sex, it's just silly. There is nothing wrong with wanting some easily digested pulpy action, with great heroes and even better villains once in a while. This post got longer then I wanted it too be, but Patrick's comment on it rubbed me the wrong way. I get what he is trying to say, but there is plenty of diversity in games these days, maybe more than ever. Games have come a long way, from art pieces too indie, through story driven epics and blockbuster triple A's, it is actually pretty good right now.
Wow, this really looks a whole lot better on PC. Also, played it on Death Incarnate difficulty and finished it in 9 and a half hours, so 15 hours is optimistic. And I am no MLG playah, died a whole lot. Worth every goddamn penny none the less. So great to see something from my childhood brought back today with this quality.
