  • By far my number 1. First of all an incredible storyline, with two terrific main characters with fascinating and opposite arcs. Subtle and sad, but not overdone. Somehow a satisfying ending while not being predictable or cheap at all.

Second, I love the gameplay. The walking around, talking to Ellie, searching for supplies, and admiring the post-apocalyptic sights really ground you in the world and make the story more impactful. The combat is fun - sneaking up on enemies and then it devolving into running and gunning and hiding and clubbing was great. End combat scenario got a bit old, but I think that is more the environment than the combat itself. Fun multiplayer, very different from the usual. Great looking game, astounding acting, can't wait to see what Naughty Dog does next.

  • Such a creative game. The environments are some of the best I've seen, and the way the music mixes in is perfect. Raptor News, Lilith's club, the slow motion level - all my top moments of the year. Liked that the new Dante had a character arc - heck, even Kat and Virgil were three dimensional. Loved the combat and the adjusted difficulty levels. Played this one a bunch.

  • Short but sweet. Fun gameplay with lots of options. Jumping through windows and punching the shit out of dudes never got tiresome. Also thought the between mission writing was fantastic - very funny and often had exactly the option I wanted to pick.

  • Rail system added a lot, those fights were the best - opening tears, shooting, blasting a guy with tonics, then jumping on a rail jumping off somewhere else. Interesting storyline that I think hangs together just enough. Great two main characters.

  • Never played A Link To The Past. Really dug this one all the way through. Not much to say about it really, great dungeons (especially loved the ice dungeon), great basic gameplay, enjoyed because able to explore at my leisure. Excited to see what they do next.

  • One of the best open worlds I've played in a long time. The basic Assassin's gameplay holds up well (despite some free-running issues), but the ship, the islands, and the Caribbean cities are where this game really shines. I've played this game for more than 20 hours and I'm only halfway through the main storyline (which, mission-wise, aren't that great). So much to do, so many people to stab.

  • A very satisfying game to play, mechanically. All the guns felt great, jumping and climbing was quick and enjoyable. Liked the character of Lara, though the rest of the storyline was kind of ridiculous. Much better than I expected.

  • This game would be higher if I had finished it, but I still played it for at least 20 hours and would love to finish it some day. I love how all the characters have unique storylines and interactions based on how you use them in combat, and how those interactions can be lost forever if they die. The basic three-way combat is lots of fun and challenging. There is so much to this game I never got to, like the children.

  • The worst thing I can say about this game is I wish there was more to it. Once I beat it I wanted to keep playing. Dig, collect, upgrade, repeat! So satisfying. More please!

  • Was very obsessed with this for about 10 minutes a day for a few months. First Animal Crossing ever, and glad I know what it is about now. I think you have to be a certain kind of person to really get into these games (ie you have to want to design furniture patterns and love arranging your house), but I had a good time selling turnips and snagging bugs and being cheated but that motherfucker Tom Nook.
