Best of All-Time!

List items

  • The best game I've ever played. The scale of the world, the land of Skyrim feels alive. The towns, the enemies, the creatures, collecting everything in site, the different factions, the dragon legends and feeling like a supreme bad ass 24/7! Best. Game. Ever.

  • The best Metal Gear Solid game, better than MGS4, much better than MGS2 and only slightly better than MGS1. Much emotion and gripping action and story line. Only slightly hampered by ageing controls and clunky hit detection. Superb. 24 Hours of extreme joy.

  • I consider this game a masterpiece. This is my modern day Ocarina of Time. Combining the renaissance period, Di Vinci art, Sneaky gameplay and spider-man like acrobatics into a beautiful story set in European 1400's, with a modern day sci-fi backdrop and then a twist that some consider garish, but I consider spooky and earth shattering. The game is brilliant and I loved every second of it, 1000/1000 achievements. I actually fell in love with it!

  • What is there to say? It's 2010 now and 12 years later I still hold this game with such joy in my heart as the first time I ever played it. The game is a perfect 'game'. It has such character, heart and emotion. Its a work of Art.

  • The thrill of sitting in the shadows, watching guards for 20 minutes, figuring out when your 5 second window to run across the courtyard, dodge a camera, pick a lock and shut the door before the guard turns around to see you....has never been perfected like it was here. I consider this to be the last true Splinter Cell title and by far the best experience I've had being Sam Fisher.

  • A more adult, modern, innovative and 60+ hour version of Ocarina of Time with interesting story and fantastic characters. Loved every single second of it!

  • This could be game that got me into gaming and if it isn't, its damn well one of the biggest reasons. I borrowed this game from a friend and played it over a weekend, all day saturday, all day sunday. Granted its not that long of a game, but I savoured every moment, spent a long time checking out everything and the story and atmosphere blew me away. I've watched movies all my life, and the appeal there is you're drawn in, you forget you exist, when the movie is over you forget you're you and you where watching. Metal Gear Solid 1 was the first time I've felt that way but rather than forgetting I was me, I was Solid Snake and I was drawn in and I WAS THERE at Shadow Moses. Amazing achievement.

  • If gaming had crack, this would be it. 92 hours 20 mins and 25 seconds. Thats the time on my save file right now for Fallout 3. I've completed all the main game quests, all the quest achievements, all the 5 DLC packs and there's still probably 30 hours of stuff for me to do and see that I've not done already. The game could have had a story or not, it wouldn't have mattered, the 'little' stories you came across on your journey was what this game was all about. The towns and their characters, it was different everywhere you went. I never felt I was doing the same thing twice, even though I was, blast everything in sight, then raid the cupboards and drawers for spoils! I decided to put this game down for my own safety, but I can imagine coming back in a few years to grab some missing achievements.

  • After spending a long time with Battlefield Bad Company 2's multiplayer over the past year, I've decided that the game is much better than Battlefield 2. The progression system and unlock system is addictive and keeps you playing and the engine, interaction with the environment and other players is outstanding. It's very addictive and I feel sometimes that I play it too much. Call of Duty feels like a kids game compared to the more more mature, skill based and team work based Bad Company 2.

  • I am unsure about having this game in this list. Assassin's Creed II was one of my favourite games of all time, and this is basically the same game with some improvement. However, the novelty factor is slightly worn away, the beautiful graphics and gameplay is essentially the same, while it's a full game, which I have spent over 31 hours in just the single player might I add, it's still basically Assassin's Creed 2.5. So I think it has to be on the, list as the second game was great, and this is better, so it must be, right?!

  • Great story. A truly modern sci-fi. Most people say Halo is this generation's Star Wars. Well if that's right, then Mass Effect is this generations Star Trek. Halo is great and all, but it's popcorn fun, I couldn't care less if I was shooting clowns on a giant cows back, it's just about the fun. Mass Effect is ALL about the story. The action supports it well, but the 'game' here is the story and it is immense. Mass Effect 2 is very dark and really does feel like an Empire Strikes Back middle act. I'm looking to play this game again as soon as I can.

  • The first shooter I truly played. I'd played Quake 2 on the school PC's, but never really enjoyed them as games. Goldeneye brought many things to my blossoming gaming life. A kick ass story, perfect controls and gameplay and of course the multiplayer. I have fond memories of staying up all night on multiple occasions playing just one on one most of the time with my friends.

  • I think I've had about 68 hours in Battlefield 2. Most of those where spent on my old PC which wasn't really up to scratch, but I refused to surrender! Nowadays I have a machine that can run this game on Ultra settings with everything on max at 100fps with everything exploding in my face. I think I'll probably have this game installed for as long as I have a PC!

  • I was addicted to this game, I'll leave it at that! I spent so long playing Pokemon Blue, that I ran the ingame clock back around on itself. Snorlax FTW!

  • I played this a lot with my friends and spent quite a lot of time in the career mode alone. By the time this game was released, I hated the wrestling on TV, it was becoming embarrassing to watch and almost impossible to convince my dad to let me watch it on Friday nights at 10pm! But my love for the games never wavered. I remember one particular Hell in the Cell match between a friend and I which lasted about an hour, it was pure enjoyment, even today I still play the latest smackdown games and enjoy the nostalgia.
