February Vita lineup and upcoming titles

And I'm back. Another month, a new and updated list of current and upcoming Vita titles. As usual, it is focused on the North American market, with sections for Europe and Japan exclusive titles in their own sections below.

For new releases, we've got the 4th Sly Cooper game and an enhanced, dismemberment-enabled port of Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 for retail, while for downloads the original Alien Breed gets a native polished up port, and Bandai releases the previously Europe exclusive Milestone developed racing game MUD: FIM Motocross Championship. As always, the list of downloadable titles tends to grow throughout the month, as many of them don't get a firm release date until the week before they're due out.

At first, January looked like it'd be a quiet month for new announcements for the Vita. We got two LEGO games - Marvel Super Heroes and Legends of Chima: Laval's Journey, more motorcycle racing from Milestone in the form of MotoGP 13, and a Lang Zone enhanced port of minimalist fighting game parody Divekick. Then the last week, Aksys revealed they're bringing over the enhanced port of Muramasa, while XSEED announced localizations of action RPGs Ys: Memories of Celceta and Valhalla Knights 3. Also a bunch of new dowloadables - Deathmatch Village, a MOBA-sounding free to play 3v3 mulitplayer game from the guys behind A-Men, while Double 11 are porting indie favorite turn-based strategy game Frozen Synapse. We were already getting the sequel, but now iOS RPG Dragon Fantasy is also coming with fully redrawn art. And Arc System Works looks to be planning a western release of Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R, given that someone found that they've applied for a German age rating for the game.

In Japan, there was a bit less news. Konami continues to support the Vita with their annual Pro Yakyuu Spirits Japanese baseball series, while Demon Gaze developer Experience are porting their PC/360 scifi dungeon crawler RPG Labyrinth Cross Blood to the platform. Also visual novel developer light has announced Kajiri Kamui Kagura Akebono no Hikari, which might be a cleaned up port of a PC eroge, or a sequel to it, not really sure.

Anyway, on to the list:

The XSEED announcement was out of left field, but extremely welcome. They're supporting the Vita more than anyone right now.

Every publisher I've spoken to won't touch (sorry) Monster Monpiece. Gamers in North America NEED this game.

Heh, for what it's worth, it's apparently doing well for a niche game in Japan, and sold out its first shipment pretty quickly. The publisher had to put an apology on its website for the lack of new copies in stores. And even if the more well known publisher won't take it, there's always a chance someone less known will try to bring it over, like happened with Let's Fish! and Elminage Original.

SEGA said Phantasy Star Online 2 is confirmed for the US and Europe on Vita and PC. I've watched English trailers of it. Anyway, really big thanks for this list!

@PandaBear: Thanks for reading! As for PSO2, are you sure? Because in all comments from SEGA I've found so far, they've only committed to bringing over the PC version, and have yet to say anything definitive regarding the Vita one.

Maybe we'll also hear a lot more Vita announcements on that February 20th event.

@Snail: ...not sure if you're being sarcastic... Though given the PS4's rumored video encoding hardware, I wouldn't be shocked to hear that Remote Play on the Vita will be available for all of its games. Also one senior SCEE guy has actually been hyping the Vita's 1 year birthday this month on Twitter, promising "tonnes of awesome".

I wasn't. The event might not be all about the upcoming PlayStation home console.

It's a "PlayStation Meeting", and there's apparently only been three of those before - PS2 announcement, PS3 announcement, and Vita announcement. Not to mention every "source" out there seems to believe its the PS4, and they're apparently inviting investors in addition to media. So I think it would be very surprising if it isn't for the PS4/Orbis.

I never said it wouldn't be. But they might also address the Vita during the event.

Thanks for the list. Do you know if they are doing cross-buy with Guacamelee!? Seems like there would be a good chance for this.

@hughesman: I don't think it's been officially announced, but it does support the whole cross controller thing where you can control the PS3 version with a Vita and get the map on the Vita's screen. And I can't imagine they expect you to pay for both versions to use that functionality.

@BlackLagoon - you're right, PSO2 is not confirmed on Vita outside of Japan. My bad and everyone's loss. Man I want that game. But really, good work on the list. Start a Vita fan site (half joking)
