@deathswind: It's getting kind of silly when they have to say "other next generation consoles." They would say if it was Wii U, and obviously Sega isn't getting back into hardware.

Sure, my PC is always online to play Steam why not a console?

Exactly. Consoles aren't for offline gaming anymore, they're entertainment machines. Do people throw a fit because you can't stream Netflix offline? Like what the fuck do you expect, the internet is supposed to be an always on thing.

How about YouTube? Can't use that offline, it must suck too. Oh no, Giant Bomb doesn't have offline mode, fuck Giant Bomb.

I can understand always online not bothering you personally but it can be a problem for most. Having a service go down because it needs online is one thing but having a system that is made to do one thing go down because of no online is a different beast. A PC can still be used for other things if you internet is out and i believe steam allows offline mode to play most games offline.

I don't want to jump the gun and condemn MS because if they were to make this true they would have to be very smart about it which I'm sure they would. But being force to be online to play games when you clearly don't need to be for most games seems very unfriendly to normal consumers. I also think to gamers who are not able to have internet all the time would just be out of luck.

This

Maybe Microsoft has decided they don't care about those "normal" consumers. Microsoft isn't making money on the guy who rarely connects to live, especially when they'll at first lose money on his/hers purchase for the next year or so. Microsoft isn't going to miss that customer, especially if these people are only purchasing used games as well. The types of people who only play COD, Halo, Madden or FIFA already are always online because they already have to be so they won't be an issue.

I still think that it does, or at least will in the future if this becomes an issue, work like steam or how XBLA already works in which once you prove you've purchased the item you're free to play offline. If it doesn't than I'm still ok with that. Maybe that will change if their service is always down or I move somewhere where my service is sketchy. If providing something that always required internet was such an issue, I don't think things like WoW would have ever succeeded. Yet people still totally bought into all that. Sure that's a specific game vs an entire system, but I still think it's a fair point.

Microsoft needs to be the steam of consoles. Convince the people who do buy the console that they should go all digital. MS gets percentage of every sale, and they make up for any money they were going to make on hardware margins from the internetless community in the future. Drop the price of a game or item once sales for it stop, or at least steam like sales. This helps the people who are price sensitive (not sure why they're spending money on games but hey I guess it's their money.)

I won't buy it regardless. While Microsoft sticks to the same strategy they employed this generation I won't buy a next gen Xbox. Outside of Gears of War, Halo, Alan Wake and Fable, the only games we got this generation were the third party stuff that appears in the PS3. There isn't much reason to stick to it, unless you like those franchises, and even so it is pushing it compared to the amount of exclusives in the PS3.

See for me, I'll easily take Gears, Halo, Alan Wake and Forza over all the PS3 exclusives. Other than some quality PSN titles, MGS 4 (which PP, and GZ will most most likely be xbox. We already know PP is) was the only PS3 game that I actually really enjoyed. Everything else was kind of a shrug of the shoulders for me. I slightly enjoyed the time I spent with some of them, but continued to play most them because I felt like I needed to beat them for some reason, and less from me still enjoying it.

Granted none of this comparing exclusives will matter to me at least, the chances I own both are quite high.

And why is anyone defending this, albeit rumoured, decision? Really, come on. It won't affect you, but what's the real benefit? We're getting closer to the age of everything being 100% online and therefore downtime will be a thing of the past. But that's still a ways away and there's still plenty of people without an internet connection at all.

You answered your own question there. If it's not going to effect that person, than so be it. They'll have no issues purchasing this system. Why should someone avoid a system just because it doesn't make sense for other people to purchase it?

Railgun is the only thing I'm interested in for the spring season... Is there anything that I maybe missing or should look into? Open to pretty much anything if it's "good."

Nope. I love everything that;s surrounding these two games, and I don't really care for hayter. I'd rather use the Japanese voices with english subs anyways.

I don't even think it's an argument for me. The only thing Uncharted does better is the dialog.

This game makes the original bioshock look like child's play. The only other game (of AAA stuff, there's a lot of great smaller XBLA and mobile stuff) that I can think of that game me great of experience from start to finish is Portal 2.

So, uhhh. It was Ground Zeroes all along, and Ground Zeroes is actually just Metal Gear Solid V? Kojima, you so crazy.

On a related note, I am somewhat excited for this. I should really get a PS3 so I can actually play MGS4 however.

Ground Zeroes and MGS V TPP are actually still separate games. TPP being announced currently on current gen systems, as with GZ (Prologue to TPP) they won't talk about systems.
