Dan: It does the thing where this looks as good as I remember it. It's like, yeah, okay, sure, this is Call of Duty 4. But I bet if you went back and put in the original game, it wouldn't look anywhere near this good.

Jeff: Right.

Dan: I did the same thing with Wind Waker HD. I just thought, "Well, this is just what Wind Waker looks like." And then I put in the Gamecube one and was like, Oh GOD

As somebody who owns the digital version Wind Waker HD I can say that Dan is kind of wrong, here. The download for Wind Waker HD is 1.3gb, versus the original Gamecube disc being 1.1gb. Most of the assets are identical to the original version. I think a couple of character models were touched up, but most of the "enhancements" are thanks to an upscaling filter they use for textures (like retro game emulators use for pixel art).

The only significant graphical change made for Wind Waker HD was the new lighting engine, which in my opinion, sort of spoils the game's aesthetic, because it doesn't look cel shaded anymore.

No Castlevania 3 means the sound coming out of my mouth right now is a big wet fart noise.

Team Fortress 2 didn't used to lean in the opposite direction. TF2 used to be pretty tight with its lean narrative, and then Valve started doing crossover stuff and opening its doors to community submissions and all semblance of what time period and tone TF2 was aiming for went completely out the window as you can now equip your sniper with iPod earbuds, futuristic Deus Ex rifles, and Kanye West slotted sunglasses.

Maybe it's just a thing in the circles I run in, but I miss the older, more simple Team Fortress 2, back when it had its sharper focus. That type of focus is something that is drawing me to Overwatch.
