There is something pretty fucking ironic about saying "don't gatekeep" and then following that with complaining about game websites that started posting about Marvel. Calling it a cynical cash-grab as if there isn't huge overlap between the type of person who visits a video game website and the type of person who likes comic book movies is insane.

This website is about to air its thirteenth episode of a show about internet memes.

100%. Seriously, the anti-Marvel stuff is usually just as bad as the crazy pro-Marvel stuff. I like these movies, and I know they're silly superhero movies, but comeon. You can't go making fun of them for silly shit and then start talking about Monster Hunter. The secret is: you don't have to watch them. I get it, it's annoying because Disney has one of the biggest marketing machines in the world. Marketing sucks, breaking news. They're silly things people like that aren't the silly things you like. Can we just stop.

Also, yes, silly to complain about game websites having Marvel stuff when it has nothing to do with games with what's been happening here. With that logic, who's coming to a video game site for a show about bad music?

I think the discussion about TLOU2, especially the narrative, does a disservice to the game by not talking about the ending, and a couple of the "boss" battles

I agree, I hate moments in games where they take control away from you in order to create a bad situation that you have no choice, especially when it's something lame like having 5 guards aimed at you and the character surrenders, when 30 seconds ago while you were in control you wiped out waves of enemies.

So when this game forces you, first, as Abby, to fight Ellie, it's just a total reverse of that trope. You're playing what could have easily been a cutscene of them sparring for a bit have it end the same way. But you HAVE to attack Ellie, there's no way to continue if you don't, and it's supposed to elicit the feeling of it not being right, because we as the player don't want Ellie to die, much less by our own hands. And even when it ends and goes to the cutscene, it doesn't have a reversal of fortune and Ellie gets the upper hand, Abby wins and leaves them to live with their defeat.

And I also agree that the San Diego segment is far too long and really should have only had one combat encounter. It didn't need to be that long. BUT

When you finally get past the encounters, the ending is pretty powerful. You go to where the Scorpions have basically crucified people looking for Abby. You find her and instead of the strong soldier she had built herself to be, she's malnourished and has clearly lost a lot of weight. And then you get to the boats. Ellie just can't let it go. She is stuck in her path for vengeance. Abby, though, has dropped it all. All of the anger towards Ellie, the Scorpions and anything else. Her one, singular goal, is to keep Lev safe. And despite her warning to Ellie that she'd kill her if they met again, Abby refuses to fight until Ellie threatens Lev, which then turns you in the final villain of the game. And the fight against Abby is tough to get through! Earlier you didn't want to kill Ellie as Abby, and now as Ellie you don't want to kill Abby! But again, you're forced to do this fight that could lead to Abby's death. Until Ellie has one more flash of Joel, and it's not him being killed, it's him with his guitar on the porch, the last moment they had together, when Ellie says she can't forgive Joel, but she'll. And she lets Abby live. She doesn't forgive Abby, but she has to try and stop this endless circle of violence. And then Ellie has nothing. No Joel. No JJ. No Dina. No way to play the guitar like before since she lost two fingers.

Again, I think it's a disservice to not even talk about that ending. Ellie makes a stupid choice, but that's what humans do. We're idiots and most of the time we go for the stupid option.

I think it not being the right game for this time in our lifetimes is completely valid, but I also think that brushing off the game because you think it's murder/gore porn is a little much.

Also, how did the lunar pod moment not win. Also also how were Abby & Lev dropped off unceremoniously. That's probably the best relationship in the game.

I legitimately want a reason from EA (or Disney, whoever's stopping it) as to why they haven't done PS4/XB1 remasters of the KOTOR games. It's like the easiest money they could make. If Lucasfilm is like "these games aren't canon" or whatever, fine! Name it like "Star Wars Legends: KOTOR" or whatever. This is like the dumbest part of the EA deal.

(I know they released both games on mobile, but it's not really the same)

Nintendo has an updated version of 64 with the DS port and they couldn't even put that version in this. Just the laziest package Nintendo has done. They should really be disgraced by this. If they ever release any actual updated versions of these games, buyers of this package should get them for free.

As someone who has been playing Destiny 2 since launch, uh, what version of Destiny have they been playing? Once you do the story Destiny is nothing but repeated missions. The strikes are never different, other than a few spots where it can either spawn like Fallen or Cabal. The story audio is always exactly the same and the bosses are always the same. Hell, since the original launch a lot of the strikes that were added are just the story missions with "well they're at it again" dialogue. Repeated content is just what these games are.

Nintendo hasn't done any substantial work on ports since Wind Waker HD. Everything after that has been the bare minimum of effort. Looking at the 3D All Stars video it looks like they didn't even change the Gamecube button prompts to the Switch buttons. Come the fuck on.

RE Resistance seems like it would be 1000x better if it was 4 v CPU, their version of COD Zombies.

Also, hot-ish take I guess: 3D World is ok. It's hampered by its design for co-op play, and fixed camera, but we got Captain Toad out of it so I guess that makes it worth it.

I don't know why more people aren't making this connection. Death Stranding runs on the Horizon engine. Guerrilla ported Horizon to PC so Kojima would use that engine for DS, because they already knew there was going to be a PC version of DS after the PS4 version. So they already did the work to get Horizon running on PC, they might as well sell it and get some money out of it.

No matter how hard they tried, Sega and/or the studio would never be able to make a new "classic" video game song better than Wreck It Wreck-It Ralph by B&G.
