" Certain DLC is quite clearly excluded content, not additional content. And that's pretty annoying considering how overpriced games are already. "

Also I have trouble believing that at times the character level cap hasn't been set to a specific amount to stunt the ability to progress through certain games.

" In some cases, absolutely. Crackdown 2 for example had the toybox DLC mentioned in the avatar awards even before release and now they've just released it. The game is still complete though I suppose, but it feels like they cut content out. Minor content. Bioware and Bethesda, absolutely not. I feel like they have lead the way in doing real DLC. I can't say I think it's all worth buying though, or long enough, but it's a way for them to add to their game after they've released it. "

Well said.

Also, other stuff I have read here is impressively insightful as well.

Just wanted to feel out the forum goers. Personally, I don't feel like most of the companies did it for that reason in the past, but I feel like this 'trend' is starting to find its way into design documents.

It affects my interest in games of the future, because I feel like I am being dragged through material that will/should already be in the sequel. That, or I finish a game which seems 'incomplete' - and now its burning in the back of my mind that "DLC is forthcoming" with the 'real' end of the game.

While this all makes sense business-wise, I don't believe it to be a sound idea for the marketplace.

The last bit of DLC seemed a bit tired for me, so I am going to sit this one out. I am hoping that I am not going to be exhausted when Borderlands 2 inevitably comes into its own.

It feels as though companies are deliberately stunting character levels to ensure their DLC sees a bit of life. Which feels more nefarious than it should, maybe this is an indictment handed out to Publishers than the Developers?

Either way I can't help feeling exploited, so while other customers/forumgoers might be "business as usual", I say "once bitten, twice shy babe"

Although I will probably not be picking this gem up, I would pay double to see a comprehensive documentary from various people connected with the development. Fascinating.

What a tragedy. I would give anything to see situations like this disappear in the world.
