Recently, I have been discussing something with a few others. I will tell you what later, but I need everyone at giantbomb to aid in my discussion. Once I get some answer
I need you to tell me what age you think the person pictured below is -
With trophies fresh out of the oven for Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, I decided to finally finish the game. It had been on hold for Metal Gear, the when trophies were announced, I decided to wait even longer. Now, with trophies ready to go, I popped the disc in to finish her up.
I had left off just before a platforming sequence, so after I had once again adjusted to how gorgeous the graphics are, I went on my way. I was glad I picked it up again, it really is a fun game. However, not all went smoothly. Upon encountering my first enemy, I had an itch. I didn't want to perform a brutal combo, I didn't want to shoot him, I want to crouch down, sneak over, and snap his neck. I approached him, and it was only moments before I dashed for cover. I tried to vanish so my foes would stop shooting, but they were very persistent. No stealth kills for Nate Drake.
Later, trying to fix problems I was having with my Xbox 360, I put BioShock in to see how it ran. It seemed fine, and I progressed the game's opening areas. I encountered my first splicer, and once again I had that itch. Creep up slowly and knock this guy out with my wrench. Of course, being genetically enhanced, this splicer was much more aware then the generic enemy in uncharted, and didn't waste any time before leaping at me. Would you kindly be a little quieter? I want to slice a throat or two. Why hasn't some pervert invented a tonic to make me invisible yet?
I truly hope that this does not go on for much longer. If it does, I may find every game flawed simply because it isn't Metal Gear.
**NEWSFLASH! THIS JUST IN**
I totally snapped a guys neck in Uncharted. He didn't hear me coming, so I walked slowly... I thought I would pull a Brutal combo on the guy, but instead Nate jumped on him and snapped his neck. Satisfaction!
Well, I need to finish up the last few puzzles in Braid, so that's on the Agenda. I also plan to finish Uncharted, picking up a few trophies along the way.
I've been playing plenty of Mega Man recently, in anticipation of Mega Man 9. You know, I forgot how difficult these games truly are. Elec Man has got to have the most insane stage ever. These games bring back plenty of memories, from sitting in my kindergarten class, spending the entire day plotting Charge Man's demise (I HATED Charge Man) to playing side by side with my dad, both of us standing no chance against the any game in the series.
This morning, I began playing through Mega Man 2. Crash Man's stage was a pest as always, but I made my way to Wily's castle. I spent more time in Wily's abode then playing the rest of the game. I must wonder, what kind of architect did he hire? Pits full of spikes that must be precisely navigated? Helplessley twisted moving platforms? Rooms with guns and walls that can only be taken down using the Crash bombs, but you don't have enough bombs to do them all? Wily is indeed a mad man for conceiving such twised rooms. I wonder what it is like for him to go to the bathroom. He needs dispel the proverbial water, yet must precisely navigate a series of ladders, and jump great distances while being sure to watch out for gargantuan man eating fish. If you wanted to keep Mega Man out, why not simply call a security company? I'm sure if you pay the right price, they won't ask who their client is. If you have enough money to construct a new army of robotic war machines every year, I'm sure you can afford a little alarm. The police will show up, and Mega Man can't do a thing if wishes to preserve his good image. Of course, for Dr. Wily, it isn't that simple. He must taunt us with his ridiculous interior decorating, which would make the staff at HGTV commit mass suiide.
One last note, Wily. You seem to be a creative guy, having made innocent things such as bubbles and trains into viscious, lethal weapons. Why not use that creativity and come up with a new plan? Sooner or later, Mega Man could probably just guard your mail box, stopping anyone from delivering your shipment of robot parts. At the very least, why not try 9 robot masters?
Anyways, I can't wait for Mega Man 9. I just hope it isn't so hard that I break another controller.
I am only a recent adopter of the Playstation 3 console. These past few months have been gaming heaven, as I absolutely love the PS3 as I did the PS2 before it. I only own one game with trophy support now, Uncharted, and when I heard it was getting support soon, I put the game on hold. I've played a decent chunk of the game, but I still have a ways to go, and can now earn trophies as I do it. The only other PS3 games I have are MGS4, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, and Soul Calibur IV, all of which probably won't get trophy support, but I can easily get into any time.
After spending all week on Giant Bomb, I felt like a little gaming. I ultimately decided to play Persona 3, a game I've been at for... quite a while now. Around 44 hours, to be exact. After playing a bit, I realized the game's ending was nowhere in sight. Last time I played a game this long that I was getting tireed of was Final Fantasy XII, but I was so close to being done, I pushed my way through. Other games, like Final Fantasy IX or Tactics, I didn't even notice how long it had been. With Persona 3, I'm having fun, but the fact is I have SO MANY other games to play, it's taxing my patience.
I'm going to go through every game off the top of my head that I want to beat, so brace yourself: Professor Layton, Suikoden II (so rare, I found it... need to play), Xenogears, Final Fantasy Tactics A2, Vagrant Story, Disgaea, Etrian Odyssey, Vagrant Story, Skies of Arcadia, Uncharted, Final Fantasy III (the only FF game I haven't beaten), Psychonauts, God Hand, Digital Devil Saga, Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow (only CV game I haven't beaten), and to top it all off, I crave another playthrough in FFIX.
My real problem is buying games. Most of those games I found used at a local shop, and just had to buy, because in my younger years I was too busy with Crash Bandicoot and Final Fantasy VII. I just wish I had more time!
I'm a huge fan of Giant Bomb. I can't wait to see the site expand.
I must say, what I really love is the originality this site brings to the game community. OFr so long, we've had gaming sites that only give us news, reviews, and previews. For the first time ever, we get an entire database of video games, a community focused site, with great editorial content. With the staff GB has, we can all know we're getting good, entertaining stuff. These guys have personality like no other gaming website.
I can't wait to see what the future has in store for Giant Bomb.
