@lackingsaint: funny, I'm playing on commander and they've missed all of 4 times they've come at me. They don't get a second chance.

Playing commander and I'm having to resort to minor save scumming till I get the hang of the mechanics, then I'll restart on normal with self-imposed ironman, because unless I'm missing something there doesn't seem to be the option for it.

@mike: yeah I totally botched the concealment mechanic my first try. Had a group of advent wander over with a flanking position on my concealed Ranger. They auto attack when they discover you flanked. It ended poorly.

On the first mission after the opening sequence, where you have to reach the power source before it detonates and kill all aliens. Attempting my 4th run, but I keep getting absolutely ganked by that sectoid. Playing on commander difficulty (classic equivalent I think?).

Oddly enjoying how badly I'm doing, as someone who's played through Long War many times.

One of the things that bugged me most was R2's convenient (or rather inconvenient) time to wake up, but driving home from the theater I had a thought. Rey is heavily hinted at to be Luke's daughter, and this is assumed for what I'm thinking currently:

Rey is never present at the resistance base where R2 is powered down, until the end of the film. Remember, she's captured before they get to the base. I'm thinking (or rather, hoping, so as to fix this otherwise stupid moment) that R2 was in sleep mode until Luke (or another Sywalker/someone with his DNA excluding Leia, because she's already) returned. He had the remaining piece of the map for this reason.

All speculation aside, I think it's difficult to judge the film's flaws in story until the next two films are released. There's an over arching narrative here that I'm optimistic will fill in the holes and strengthen the weaknesses this film has on it's own. That being said, I think the movie was good, and thoroughly fun.

As someone who likes both the original trilogy and prequel styles of lightsaber fighting (and tolerates the half assed explanation of why they're so different), I'm really excited to see the next fight with Rey and Ren. The untrained but naturally talented Rey vs the trained but still-apprentice (that doofus Snoke talks about finishing his training) Kylo was a great fight. The next time they meet (Rey trained by Luke and Kylo a full fledged sith) should be an awesome fight that hopefully blends the old and new styles of lightsaber choreography together.

thanks for the info, gang! I'm anticipating being a bad ass lady in power armor with melee and explosives. Should be fun!

I'm playing a character that's all punching and she kills things faster than most guns. You just need a lot of endurance and armor. Bring a companion with a gun with you to deal with wall mounted turrets.

Some enemies have suicide bombs...that could be an issue...

Yeah, I've heard of that. Strength is also used for heavy weapons, so I figure that should solve those particular problems.

Hey ya'll,

I'm picking up Fallout4 in a couple weeks, and I've been doing some digging to get an idea for what character I might want to play. I'm thinking I want to be a primarily melee based build, but nothing I've found online says whether or not it's actually any good, only that it's doable. So, has anyone here tried to go mostly melee? If so, what was your experience?
