So, it's been a few weeks since I actually blogged. I've still been posting on other people's entries, but I just haven't felt the inspiration to do one of my own...I guess I just never felt the need to bore you with my mundane existence until now. Normally, by this time in the year, I would have a multitude of stories to tell about various college experiences, but a few of you already know why that's not happening.

On that thought, I've been told by a few that I should probably just go ahead and vent what happened here to all of you, so that people can stop asking me "how's school going," but then I remind them that I'm not the kind to ask for a shitload of pity from people who are probably just saying it because they feel they have to...See, I'm not the type of person to force someone to bullshit me either - well, maybe in the past, but not now.

But, what the hell - ever since the switch from GS to GB, very few people read either version of my blogs, so I guess now's as good of a time as ever (less people to bore with what happened, I mean). This is a rundown of what happened:

  • I'm a poor kid, so I was lucky enough to receive an ample supply of financial aid my first three years of college - enough to where they were actually paying me to attend, if that makes sense.
  • In between my junior and senior years, my university raises their rates $3,000+, meaning that what was once an excess amount of financial aid in my case now didn't cover the whole costs. That year (my senior year), I spent about $250 a semester - manageable to say the least.
  • Many of you will remember from my sophomore year, that I got screwed out of taking a prerequisite Biology class that I was required to take before I could EVER enter at least five other biology classes (the screw job was because one of the main Biology professors was no longer teaching said class, meaning that only 24 spots would be open for the literally hundreds of students who needed to take said class). In the long run, that meant that even though last year I was technically a senior, I still needed to take one last semester (so one semester of my 5th year, if you're with me) in order to get the last few credits to graduate.
  • Skip to last summer, when rates jumped up another $1,000 or so, and when I was told all the way up to the week before school starts, that I will be receiving enough financial aid to get to where I was going to have to pay around $400 for the semester. Again, a manageable number.
  • The week before school starts, I get boned up the ass by Ball State, saying that I had been removed from the "SMART" financial aid program (which I was getting the majority of my money from - because of my being on the Dean's List). They used a bull shit technicality to remove me from the program, saying that people no longer qualified for financial aid once they passed four years of attendance. So, sorry to all of us who got screwed out of taking that one class way back when - you're gonna have to pay an arm and a leg to attend now...In my case a nearly $3000 bill.

Needless to say, poor kids don't have three grand to throw away at will, so I sit here now as a college dropout, needing a measly 14 credits to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology - and with honors, no less...No job, since the economy sucks and no one's hiring (and I refuse to do waitress-ing or fast food) so I can't afford to go back to school anytime soon. This also means most of my shopping "for the hell of it" has been completely eliminated, so I have been relying on my position at GrrlGamer to receive anything in the way of new games.

I received Unsolved Crimes, Animal Paradise and Pipe Mania like I posted about in my last blog. I also got Lovely Lisa this morning, along with Brain Quest Grades 3&4 and Brain Quest Grades 5&6 a few days before that. I've got the new Halo board game (yes, board game) coming soon in the mail, along with (supposedly) Princess Debut and a book based on the Warhammer franchise. We'll just have to see how many of those things actually arrive in a timely manner.

So there...you've all been caught up with my life - what was once a pretty happy and eventful existence has turned into something rather dull and boring, even a bit depressing. Like I said before - don't pity me - I know eventually things will work out...I just wish they would sooner rather than later so I can actually afford to buy things again.
