My next gen console library is complete!

Who would have thought I'd go from zero next gen consoles to owning all three within the span of around four months? Craziness, I tell you! Finally found a Jasper system - opted for the Arcade over the Pro since I was having a heck of a time finding a Pro, and during that hunt, I decided that backwards compatibility really wasn't worth the extra $100. No online yet (I reserved my online tag, Andaley, a long time ago however, so feel free to add me and I'll get to you when I can), as I didn't buy the adapter - have the funds for it in Gamestop credit (which is how I bought the console in the first place), but I am hoping to perhaps find a better deal somewhere else.

It's a cluster of wires right now - that's NOT how everything is going to look in the end (ie: the 360's not staying on the floor...at least, not if I can help it - and why there's a random pile of PS1 titles sitting there is beyond me), but I wanted to give you an idea of the mayhem I'm dealing with. But really, this only covers the current gen situation - you should see where the NES, SNES, Dreamcast, etc. are... But that's for another time.

Even though I'm SUPER stoked about finally getting a 360, when thinking about it further, this probably wasn't the best time. Not in terms of money, but in terms of my already massive backlog of review games. I've received... I'd say around ten games in the past week, so adding in my collection of 360 games (that I had purchased on clearance, etc. knowing one day I'd own a system) only makes things worse. At least those don't have to be reviewed... Gotta see the silver lining.

I love the messiness!  It reminds me of me.  Also, if you just look at that small preview picture, it looks like the 360 is making a frownie face.  Awesome.

It's hard to tell from that picture but if that 360 is on carpet, you should put something under it like a piece of cardboard.  The box it came in would work nicely.  Putting it on carpet prevents ventilation and can lead to problems.

As far as your wireless adapter goes, you can snag the official Microsoft one at Costco right now for $74.99 through the end of March.  There are other options, though.  If you're brave and enough of a nerd to want to try to get this to work, I recommend getting a cheap Linksys WRT-54G router off of eBay for $20 to $30.  Once you get it, flash it with DD-WRT firmware and set it to receive.  Instructions on how to do this can be found all over the web.  Then, you'll have a solution that is just as good (or better) than the Microsoft product, AND you'll have an extra router if you ever decide to go wired with the 360.

If you decide to go this route, make sure you pick up a router with a DD-WRT compatible hardware revision.  A list can be found on the DD-WRT site here.  Another option would be to buy a pre-flashed WRT-54G that already has the DD-WRT firmware on it if you're not too technically inclined...this is still cheaper than the Microsoft option.

I never got to experience the blowing on the cartridge thing in Retro Game Challenge. Too bad. I would have enjoyed that. :)

Whatever you do, don't leave the 360 and/or powerbrick on the carpet. BAD idea.

Grats on the 360.

Congrats.  I'm pretty content at considering my current-gen collection complete as far as consoles go with the PS3/X360... I might get a Wii eventually but it's not really something I really plan on picking up anytime soon.

Sit the 360 on top of the ps3 or something so it gets the air it needs lol. Possibly a bit wobbly though :S
