Before I get into the meat of the post, a 360 update: Got Live - feel free to add me (Andaley).
For anyone who is even remotely familiar with me, you're probably aware of the fact that I write reviews, articles, convention coverage, etc. for GrrlGamer.com. Well, to put a VERY long story into a bit of a nutshell, over the past few days, the site's Editor (backed by both myself and our website designer) and the site's Founder have been in what started as a very amicable email conversation concerning GrrlGamer's future and the fact that the Founder (from here on referred to as PHB for Psycho Hose Beast) has her head stuck up her ass (ok, so maybe that's not exactly how it was stated, hehe) about progress and refuses to see anyone else's side of the topic.
The conversation went from friendly to vengeful at Mach 10 speed, and concerned the issues of commercialization (PHB is firmly against, while the three of us have a hard time understanding what's so wrong with the concept of making money), the fact that PHB felt left out of the loop in terms of GrrlGamer's redesign (we were in the beta stages of a complete overhaul, more on that later), among other topics.
While I could go on and on, I'll spare you the intricacies and get straight to the part where PHB, in a bipolar fueled frenzy, closed the site. The former GrrlGamer staff (while small) now finds themselves fucked over by PHB who would rather see the 12-year-old site close than give over even one ounce of control, a staggering fact when she herself hasn't been active in the site in at least 5 years, but still requires our editor to come to her with every minor request. Basically a "I want the credit without doing any of the work" situation, if you will.
But all hope is definitely not lost, as we have been able to salvage the GrrlGamer redesign (as PHB had no control over it), and (hopefully) within the next month will be able to launch THAT as a completely new site - new name, new look, and new features to go along with our established review templates, forum community, etc. While the situation with PHB is unfortunate, as this does mean starting over in terms of site traffic, etc., there is a massive potential for growth in this new venture that simply didn't exist at GrrlGamer, with PHB always holding us back.
I'll be sure to update you all when I have more news about the change.
Thanks for reading!
