I put yes, because in the grand scheme of a year, 60 bucks isn't that much to a kid is Uni who also works. I would feel good knowing this wasn't splitting the good content for the community. I am also for SURE signing up before 1pm eastern (which is 10am pacific) to help keep the Bombcast whole anyway.
I believe the simplest answer to this is the same one that answers why so many white people play Polo or Tennis or Golf. Playing videogames is basically a hobby for wealthy people (and I don't mean wealthy in the Beverly Hills sense, in a worldly sense). TV's and consoles and expensive videogames cost a ton of money for what is just a form of entertainment (and a hobby for some). The demographic that makes up white people is generally the most wealthy, and can afford the habit. Therefore, videogames are developed primarily by the target demographic for the target demographic.
At this point I'd rather have ads and a pure Bombcast than the current situation. Shit, I ignore ads all the time, and I could easily do it here, so please Giantbomb, get ads if you can't come up with a better solution.
I was really excited about paying for a years subscription tomorrow but, wow, really guys? Just from an objective standpoint it seems like a bad decision. I cannot believe that out of every overlarge and soulless website out there, you would be the first gaming one (that I know of) to pull this.
What was that you said, Snide? "We're not in the business of pissing off the internet"? Whiskey must have spent several days worth of time thinking this paid stuff out, and this is the outcome??
Let me tell you a boring little story about Canadian politics. In our last federal election, the Liberals were utterly defeated in almost an instant because of one small part of their platform. It got so much negative attention that no one even knew or cared what the rest of their platform was, because they found that one idea so bad that they jumped ship. You have two options: You have to explain the FUCK out of this if there is some miscommunication and there is something we're not getting, or you have to rethink this idea. At this point, this one idea will utterly spoil all the goodwill you've gained for the great job you've done so far.
People with a lot of money have $8000 to drop on PC's I suppose. Specialty, prebuilt boutique PC's have always been a niche upmarket product. However, I will say that I've never seen anything as weird as the hybrid console PC before. Hilarious find sir!
